First of all, sorry for the grammar. So, Super-2004 and tennyson18 were aligning from the start of this match. They got rid of me and the other player, and went on doing the same for a couple more of matches (that I cared to look, I'm pretty sure there were more). I only captured the images of the game I was in First, our friends coordinated to attack red at the same time: For this, blue took a risk sacrificing his (or her) bishop. Green exposed his queen for the check mate, and (obviously) blue didn't took it. Maybe covering his white bishop from the scary grey pieces was more important: Inmediatly after that, they went for me. Once they checked mated me, they didn't care to play anymore. Expect them to be in the leaderboard soon for... I dunno, a couple of months?

4 player Teams is a totally different concept than that of 4 player FFA. It involves lots of tactics which changes the way pieces are moved on the board. Here are some useful opening tips for beginners who might not understand the difference between FFA and Teams. In 4 player chess, red is the first side to move. Therefore he must do everything he can to get his queen out early into the game. Moving the pawn in front of the king is essential for two reasons: 1) It creates a barrier in front of the king to evade checks. 2) It gives room for the queen to move quickly into the center of the board. The same goes for yellow. Here blue and green must move the pawn in front of their queens. If they don't, then there is a small trick red and yellow can play. If blue moves the pawn in front of the king, yellow can check blue with the queen. No matter what move green plays, it's all over. Red will move their bishop diagonally to yellow's queen and its game over. Blue is mated and they lose the game. Therefore it is a good idea if you want to stay in the game to move the pawn in front of the queen if red moves the pawn in front of the king first. This idea will switch however if red chooses to move the pawn in front of the queen first. The same tactics stated above still apply. Next, GET YOUR QUEENS OUT! Here red and yellow both get their queens out. Blue and green must follow suit and move the queens in front of their kings. This is CRITICAL for blue and green. This is because it prevents discovered checks that red and yellow can capitalize on knowing that you must defend the king. In another variation shown below, red will have to waste a move by moving a pawn to defend against a pawn capture by a queen if blue chooses to move the pawn in front of the queen side bishop. Red cannot move their queen out on the board immediately. Blue can then move their queen to the newly opened square by their pawn push and attack the yellows pawn on i-13, (the pawn infront of yellows queenside bishop). Yellow will be able to move their king side bishop to the pawn infront of the queen to attack blues queen. Shown below. This is just one of the variations. NEXT make sure to avoid all discovered checks. Red and yellow have two choices. Either move their king side bishop in front of their king to avoid checks, or move their queen side knight. We chose to move our bishops. Blue and green MUST move their knights to avoid discovered checks. In the next pictures green fell for one of the simplest tricks in the book. Red was able to capture the knight and yellow checked forcing green to move. And easy way to stop this cute tactic is to move the pawn infront of greens queen up one square. This blocks yellows queen from checking greens queen. By then it was pretty much all over. Okay so that was just some examples of how your opening play in 4 player teams should look. Next time, keep some of these ideas in mind. Also, trust your teammate! The arrows are to show you SUGGESTIONS on moves you should play. Don't think of it as the teammate bossing you around/ telling you what to do (but most likely its a good move) Just communicate with him and ask what his idea is. I hope this helps some, sorry for the horrible picture examples but I'm not a good graphics designer by any means. If you have questions or comments or other ideas you thought I missed feel free to post them below. Thanks! -Reuben
I met this guy who was 838 and he said that I was a bad player and I didn't know what I was doing.

One time I was playing the team chess and at first every single time the game started it ended immediatly and usually it said that I won
Is it just me or 4 player chess has many ghost games? The ones where clock doesnt move, and it seems like players are stuck in a never ending game. What is that about? Its always set to initial position, noone wins or loses, but players are stuck in there forever

I used to really like 4player chess. But lately about every other game is ruined by cheaters. Meaning two (or sometimes very rarely 3 players) playing in teams against others. This behavior takes all the fun out of the game and me personally enjoy it way less than I used to. So are there any plans how to control the situation? Or is it considered normal? What do you think guys? And is there any other platform where to play 4player online? Since the current situation with cheaters is really irritating?

I see no point in playing in a team match with 2000+ rated opponents and my team mate is only rated 1000-1300, so I just resign beforehand because I'd rather take my L in points rather than later on in the game instead of playing on and somehow by a MIRACLE we win against them. Just a random thing I thought I'd share. Not sure if other people feel this way or might yell at me for being unsportsmanlike. (Sorry! )

Wondering how big a deal it would be for the programmers to arrange it so that:1) When the game is done, and you rewind the game to review it, you can see the time that was available for each player at that move and2) If we can't keep the ability to draw arrows etc. after the game is done. That way you yourself, or you with your teammate, or even you with the guy. you just barely beat, can draw out... "Well, the reason I didn't move here (arrow) is because it would leave me open to a check from here (arrows) by these two players, etc.(and of course everyone is waiting for the day when our games can be saved, eh?!)

I just played a free-for-all game with an opponent that I blocked. I blocked them specifically to avoid this happening. What's the purpose of blocking someone if you can still be matched up with them in a game? Please fix this if possible! Thanks in advance, chess.com!
Hello, So, I just finished playing a free for all 4 person chess game. It was me and another player left. We both had 73 points. He had a promoted pawn and I had a regular pawn. He took my pawn and I took his promoted pawn back. Then, the tournament registered that the game was a draw since we just took 1 point and were tied at 74 points. It had a short popup message. Next, the server froze and we couldn't do anything. The points weren't displayed nor was the match officially over yet. My opponent had the same problem except it was his move so he said that he could move his king. However it wasn't registering on my screen. Also, we both tried resigning and the button didn't do anything. Lastly, I restarted the page. The server reset the game to the regular lobby when you first enter. So I couldn't come back to the game and it was gone. Has anyone had this problem? If somebody has any idea of what happened and could inform me that would be great. Thanks, AblazePopRocket.

Hello, I was wondering what level of premium subscription (Gold, Platinum, Diamond) you need to invite somone. Can you do it with Gold? Also do both players need to have premium, or just the one inviting?

Game ended like this, notice green rating change:
This is a suggestion from another topic: shineko wrote: set the least number of games (for example 20 games in the last week) then only active players can be seen in the leaderboard this is logical and simple. Currently 1 game in the last 2 weeks is enough. Thoughts? Maybe I am thinking a bit conservatively, but would 10 games in the last 2 weeks be enough? Or what do you guys think is the proper limit?

Staff members: I would like to start becoming a paying member again, but I was wondering if it is possible to support the development of 4-player chess specifically. For example, is there some way to donate to the staff members who work on the game? Or is there an option to suggest what project my payment goes to? Supporting 4-player chess is important to me, as I play a fair bit, but it would be nice to have a bit of transparency regarding the priority of 4-player chess for the website's staff. I believe that this game is technically still a prototype (is it?), but how serious is chess.com about developing this game further? Is it a permanent project whose tasks are being added to the regular queue of tasks? Is it a passion project that staff members work on only when they have time? I would like to contribute to the development of this game (whether it be through donation or volunteer work), but I am not sure if this is an option (specifically, having my membership fees go to the development of this variant). Chess.com, many of us LOVE this game. Let us help you develop this game. Communicate with us! What is the overall status of this game? How can we contribute to its development? Thanks for your hard work!

Recently in the forums there have been about 4 main things that are being talked about. Some have been talked about much longer. The specific "trees" that people seemed to be focused on are: 1. Chat rudeness. Personally I don't think it should even exist during the game in FFA 4PC, after the game would be much better. Players could chat or whatever at that time or move to the next game. (please, I know you can turn it off, ok...but sometimes you don't think about it and lo and behold people team up or say just degrading racist stuff etc.).2. Rating changes due to new scoring system.3. # of games to play in which to qualify on the Leader board.4. Auto-Claim-Win (this should at least have a trial run). But the "forest" hasn't changed...the game as a whole. Less players are online, many have been disgusted and moved on, the time to find a game is growing longer, and the list keeps growing. A tipping point seems to be close for the greater success this game could achieve. The above changes make the game more fun and entice players to play more games, which in turn grows the game.We just need to get some of these things done...quickly. Thank-you
