- if an online chess notification is posted and chosen from the notification pull-down menu, the board is displayed with the start position; refreshing does nothing. only leaving the app and restarting it gets me to the board. - if a notification is available and i open the app directly, a 2nd start menu (the tiles) is displayed over the first one. So first the app opens to the tiles, then the notification kicks in and auto-opens the tiles again. If I got the the online chess tile, I get the game (properly updated). Leaving the board screen, I return to the tiles. Leaving the tiles, I go to the 2nd tiles screen! And leaving that screen, the app closes. Hope this helps clear up this pretty annoying UI problem. I'm on Jelly Bean 4.1.2, FWIW.

Hi there. I understood that one of the perks of premium membership was that you got the Android app ad-free, just like you do with the website. Version 2.0.9 is showing me popup fullscreen ads every time I start the application. I've tried the old "logout and log back in" trick, but they still appear. Is this the new policy? Or is there something else I should try?

When will a new version released? Hopefully without Bugs.... Maybe a complete redesign ( 3.0)????

Hi Folks, Is it just me or the new update is very buggy? Just a sample: 1) keeps disconnecting on live chess regardless of how strong you wi fi signal is. (ICC doesn't disconnect); 2) I need to issue several challenges before getting a game. Not as imediate as the browser version. 3) Today, somehow in the beginning of a game, I got the reconnecting message and all of a sudden one of my oponents white pawn turned to black. It was his move and my clock was running. Tried to move one of my pieces without success. had to close and reopen tha app a certainly lost the game. Running Gingerbread on a brand new Galaxy Note

When using 3G internet, I lost connection for about 1 min. When it reconnected, my time was still running although I had already moved! And I could do nothing! I tried to close and then reopen the chess.com Android software to see if the board would reload. The game was there yet, but no change at all. I suggest a choice to force the board to reload inside the options menu...

1- Game or tactics are reset on screen rotation change. Status: New (from my point of view)android Chess.com app Version: 2.73Repro: 100%Android version: 2.2.1Phone: Motorola Defy or Motoblur. when I rotate my phone, the app adjust itself (that is ok), but all the peaces get back to their initial positions. In tactics, the current tactic reset to its first move.
The newest version has been crashing every time I try to go in and try to do tactics. This happens on both of my devices.   Talblet: Asus TF101 with Android 4.0.3 Phone: Samsung Nexus S with Android 4.0.4   I have uninstalled and reinstalled on the tablet and the problem persists. Anyone else having issues?

Sometimes the Android app seems to mix or otherwise scramble game data, and the position appears to be more or less random. Parts are from the original game, but one or more pieces change color and/or disappear and/or change place. In older versions this often happened when rotating the view (if I remember correctly), I am not sure if this is still the case with the current version. But, with the current version of the app, it is reproducible when you go to "Finished Games", then open a game, then press the "Menu" button and then "Chat". Then the chat window does not appear (also a bug of course), but the position changes to a more or less random state (maybe a mix of data from several games?).
Has anyone had any issues where you resign one game but the app resigns a different one? If you have, do you know which version app it was on? Was it a recent one? Was it a normal game or team match/tournament? We've had a few reports on this happening but haven't been able to reproduce it. Any help to track this down would be appreciated.
Hi there, I just uploaded a new app to the Android market, it is a Chess Clock. If you need one or if you like mine I invite you to download it and get back at me with your comments. Thanks! https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.Hefestus.ChessClock.Free
I've been using the chess.com app daily on my train/bus commute for over a month prettily heavily and on my tablet at home for the past week. Over this time I've loved having the app, and it's been a lot of fun. My phone is an HTC Sensation running Cyanogenmod 7.1, the tablet is a Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1. At the same time, I have experienced some frustrations. I thought it might be useful to share these in hopes the dev team can take the feedback and I improve future releases. I work in software, so I know how valuable customer feedback can be. So here are some issues I've experienced: When logging in on the tablet, the login screen only has a portrait mode. Personally, I usually use landscape mode. This is somewhat jarring. When using an analysis board in landscape mode on the tablet, the forward and back buttons to step through moves are anchored to the bottom of the moves list. This means the buttons move as the number of moves changes. This isn't a problem in portrait mode. Consider locating them somewhere better. The move highlights can be hard to see. The way the menu button is used along with pop-up menus is really not intuitive. This looks particularly bad on Honeycomb tablet. As others have reported, Live Chess doesn't currently work. When Live chess does work, the game selection criteria don't work the same way as on the website. In particular, I don't see a good way to do a relative rating filter. The Settings page is poorly highlighted link on the main page. It also has options on it that seem to be misplaced. Invite a Friend and Contact Us probably don't belong here. I know this is a lot of issues (and to be honest, I could find more) but I'd really love for the Android App to feel more polished and consistent. I really like the chess.com site and community and hope that this is actually useful.

Hi I have just seen that you uploaded the new App design layout from the Android Market. Just found a bug From "EMAIL GAME" under Human vs Computer, try to play some moves and you will see the exported PNG file has no list of moves, and the names used for Black and White are both my names. Just some request: Can you also add the EMAIL GAME from our existing Online Chess Games, not just from the Human vs Computer? This would be great addition. Can you also add the PRIVATE NOTE feature from our existing Online Games. So we can add some notes to our current games, just like the PRIVATE NOTES from the web base version of Chess.com How about using other chess engines, I am so tired playing with a Center Counter game. The Computer always play 1..d5 when I play 1. e4

I've ran across this a few different times but finally remembered to note one of the tactics where it happens. If there are two of the same piece that can move to the same square, Tactics Trainer on Android will allow you to move either piece and list the correct move. That will cause you to fail the tactic at a later move. The example I came across today: http://www.chess.com/tactics/server.html?id=120210 On the Android app, it will allow either Rfe1 or Rae1 but Rfe1 is the correct 1st move. The online TT only allows the correct move. When it allows Rfe1 it will then allow the rest of the moves but since there isn't a Rook on f1 anymore, you can't take the bishop on f4 so all choices on the last move are incorrect.

I'm often using the app with a bad connection - either wifi or 3g. I select a game and while I'm doing nothing but considering my move the app flips back to the game list. So I reselect and eventually get back for a bit then it jumps back again. If the display just stayed put once it was up, even if the connection had dropped, it would be much less frustrating. If there was a problem when I eventually submit the move that would be understandable. It is stable with a much inferior competitors app.
I've been using the app for the iPhone for about a year and a half and have absolutely loved it. I got a Kindle Fire today and installed the Android app. What a disappointment! This app feels archaic compared to the iPhone version. Moving to the analysis screen or any of the other screens from within a game is quite cumbersome in comparison. Why is there such a disconnect in how this app is developed compared to the other one? I realize they are probably developed by two different dev teams, but I'd think they'd be consistent. Any future plans to bring them into alignment with each other (hopefully the Android app moving toward the same user experience as the iPhone app)?
Hi I was thinking bying a Huawei X3 http://www.gsmarena.com/huawei_u8510_ideos_x3-3840.php Specialy for playing in Chess.com.... Can you give me some feedback about this phone? Does this phone work?
Chess.com app version: 1.961 Android version: 3.2.1 I have been unable to resign my last two Online games on my tablet. Anyone else having that issue? I was able to resign on my phone though.

Can you please make it compatible with Google TV? I've tried to use it on Sony Google TV device(NSZ-GT1) , using apk from http://www.chess-3.com/androidlive.apk but it just shows login screen and closes immediately. Thanks
The app is broken badlly on android 4.0.2. Cant accept or submit challenges. Games dont always show up in the current game list. Notifications are not working.
