Chapter 1: The Start
RING!!!! RINGGGG!!!!!! RINGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG!!!!!!! RINGGGGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Caleb wakes up and turns off the alarm. “ Caleb!!!! Get ready, it's time for you school!!!!” Caleb’s mom shouted.
Caleb heard it but he ignored what his mom said. He gets off bed and changes his clothes. He ran downstairs, ate, and went to the bus. It’s 9:18 am, and Caleb goes to his class. “ Ok class, open your computers and open Lesson 6,” the teacher announced.
“ Ok!” the other kids replied.
When Caleb opened his computer, his friend told him to go to a link. But Caleb didn’t know that that link would change his life forever. He clicked on the link and led him into…. CHESS.COMM….. He played his first match against a bot. It was Caleb vs Jimmy ( the beginner bot). He didn’t know how to play, so he just did some random moves.
After 7 minutes he was winning, Jimmy only had a pawn and his king. While Caleb had a king, queen and a rook. Jimmy was in Kh8, Ph6 and Caleb is Qe7, Rd2, and Ke5. Caleb manages to trap the king on the 8th row. As he was gonna move the rook, he decided to move the Queen to g7. He did not realize that that cost him the game. The tables turned and Jimmy went to the lead. With King to King, Caleb decided to forfeit the match. “ OHHHHHH, C’mon!!! I almost got that king!!!! If I didn't put that thing near his thing, I could’ve gotten that king! AND I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT HAPPENS IF I GET HIS KING!!!! I JUST WANNA GET HIS LAST PIECE!!!! AHHHHHH!!!!!” he whined.
“ CALEB BEKET!!!! Do not scream in my classroom! If you do that one more time, I will send you to the principal’s office. So be quiet at once, Mr. Beket!” his teacher scolded.
Caleb thinks that his teacher was so harsh on him. But everytime he tells his mom, she doesn’t listen and just says that its probably for a good reason.
After the game he wanted to play again and again. He liked to play it and hoped one day, he could beat Jimmy. And get the prize. Yet, he didn’t know there was no prize.
So everyday after school, Caleb would ask his mom for her phone.
He downloaded the app: Chess.com and played for hours. One day, after school Caleb ran into his room to play chess. Then he decided to go against Jimmy for the last time hoping to beat him. He goes with d3 as his opening. Jimmy goes e4.
5 minutes later, Jimmy was winning with 3 more pieces and Caleb with 2 more pieces. Jimmy had 2 Pawns and his King, while Caleb had 1 Pawn and his King. JImmy was trying to check Caleb’s but it didn't work. So Caleb moved his pawn to c6, c7, then c8. When he was at c8, he changed his pawn to a Queen since he thought it looked nice. The first thing he did when he got the Queen, is that he got the pawn: c8xPc3. Then he went after the king. The game was played like this: BKg8, Qc7, BKh8, Qe7, BKg8, WKd6, BKh8, WKe6, BKg8, WKf6, BKh8, WKg6, BKg8, then finally Qg7.Then, BOOOOM!!!! A sign popped up on his screen and it said “ Checkmate”. “YES! I DID IT I GOT THE KING!!! WOOOOO!!! I DID IT! I DID IT!!! YESSS!!!!!! Hey, what's my prize?” he said.
He ran downstairs to tell his mom. His mom was confused on what he won. Caleb was gloating because he assumed he would get a prize. Then his mother grabbed the phone from him and checked it. She saw the Checkmate Screen. “ Honey, you didn't get a prize, but you won! Hey what is this game, you are really into it?” she said.
“ I don’t know, it's a game my friend told me to play. I really like it! I need to play more so I have more wins! I LIKE TO WIN!!!” Caleb told his mom.
Chapter 2: The Enrollment
One day, his mom saw his plays and decided to enroll him in a chess class.
