Hello, I’m a new member here. I always want to make new variants, but didn’t know how to make it. Can anyone teach me?

There is thousands of chess variants out there, and there are thousands of unique pieces. So why not satisfy everyone by having an option to create custom pieces like chess craft? Maybe implement it by having a + sign next to fairy pieces and allow us to create a piece from betza notation and allow us to upload a custom photo as a texture.

There have been many attempts to introduce xiangqi, but all have many imperfections. This is because the following pieces and rules are missing. Pieces: cannon（炮）: A rook that captures by jumping a single piece along the path of attack. xiangqi elephant（象）: An alfil that cannot jump over a piece. xiangqi general（将）: A wazir that can move across the board to capture the enemy general if the two generals face each other along the same file with no intervening pieces. xiangqi pawn (兵 after crossing the river; a better name is needed to eliminate ambiguity): A wazir that cannot move backward. (see below) Rules: Promotable Pieces: a xiangqi 兵 is a soldier before crossing the river, after crossing the river, it is a xiangqi pawn. This can be implemented by promotion. There are so many tactics you can use, although you need to capture so many pieces at the start and place them down. You only start with 4 crazywan drops at the start. Also @NoWellOkay said castling is bad cause you lose 2 crazywan squares. The difference between the declined version and this is that there are 2 more rows of empty squares, allowing more room for knight openings.

Previous update: https://www.chess.com/clubs/forum/view/update-on-ncv-wof-testing-situation Hello Custom Variants community, I’m back today with another update, seeing as many of you are wondering what is happening with CGA bot. To start off, we currently have 6 NCVs and 3 WoFs registered in @CGA’s database. 3 of these 9 variants did not meet the posting requirements; however, a problem we are facing right now is that @CGA rarely ever updates posts, even when new game links have been attached. Another issue that we are unfortunately having is that it mistakenly labeled @0Pombo’s variant as automatically declined for violating the 2 variants per (7 days) rule. On August 14, it will have been more than 7 days since the new post, so please try reposting at that date to see if it works or not! As for @1marker2maker3’s situation, he posted 2 variants a few hours before 7 days hit on the clock. Unfortunately, I was only able to relabel one of his variant’s as UR, and the other one still displays declined; although this wasn’t @CGA’s fault, it’s still somewhat inconvenient. On August 12, it will have been more than 7 days since those posts, so please try reposting at that date! I unfortunately can’t help out more than that. Final thing in this update, @qilp is on vacation, and since he is the main programmer of @CGA, it’s gonna be a few more days until a solution is hopefully found. Testing shortages will also unfortunately be a problem, but hopefully this won’t be too big of an issue. That being said, thank you all for your continued patience! I hope this won’t happen, but some variants may be UR for another week or two, and it’s frustrating for the CGAs as well…
