I've played the King's Gambit for the first time in quite a while today. I played two games against a guy and won both of them. Here they are!

Member's game analyzed. It's a QGA. Do we consider the QGA a gambit here? I'm on a couple of other groups that won't accept this as a gambit.

check out this game, I was playing black by the way.

The UCO yahoo group has chosen the Omega Gambit as their gambit to study for the month of July. If you have any interesting games with this gambit please submit them here and I'll post them to the UCO group. You can also join yourself at yahoogroups.com if you're into UCO's. Look up Unorthodox Chess Openings. Computer analysis and novelties are also welcome. You can research Clyde Nakamura's original analysis here: http://www.chessville.com/uco/cn/OmegaGambitPart1.htm I have had many successes with this gambit in quick and blitz games. It has been while since I've used this gambit though. Maybe a revisit is in order? ~Boog

Happy First Day of Summer Everybody!!! Since the whole planet is in a frenzy with World Cup Fever, I figured this was a good time to introduce the World Cup of Chess Openings!! To register your group, please go to this thread: http://www.chess.com/groups/forumview/wcoco---2010-registration World Cup of Chess Openings - Official Rules (Taken from the FIFA World Cup format) The current tournament features 32 teams, representing different openings, competing in Vote Chess games at 2-days per turn. There are two stages: the group stage followed by the knockout stage. In the group stage, teams compete within eight groups of four teams each. Each group plays a round-robin tournament, guaranteeing that every team will play at least three matches. A match will consist of 2 games, one from each team's prefered starting position. The top two teams from each group advance to the knockout stage. Points are used to rank the teams within a group. Three points are awarded for a win, one for a draw, and none for a loss. If two or more teams end up with the same number of points, tiebreakers are used: first is goal difference, then total goals scored (this will be the in-game score found on the details tab), then head-to-head results, and finally drawing of lots (i.e., determining team positions at random). The knockout stage is a single-elimination tournament in which teams play each other in one-off matches, with extra games used to decide the winner if necessary. It begins with the "round of 16" (or the second round) in which the winner of each group plays against the runner-up of another group. This is followed by the quarter-finals, the semi-finals, the third-place match (contested by the losing semi-finalists), and the final. World Cup of Chess Openings - Proposed Schedule Aug 2010 - Match 1 begins (played Aug, Sep, Oct, Nov) Nov 2010 - Match 2 begins (played Nov, Dec, Jan, Feb) Feb 2011 - Match 3 begins (played Feb, Mar, Apr, May) Jun 2011 - Round of 16 begins (played Jun, Jul, Aug, Sep) Oct 2011 - Quarter-Finals begin (played Oct, Nov, Dec, Jan) Feb 2012 - Semi-Finals begin (played Feb, Mar, Apr, May) Jun 2012 - Finals begin (played Jun, Jul, Aug, Sep)

I recently played an online chess match against a higher rated opponent using the Evan's Gambit. She declined and I was baffled about the situation. My questions are:1. What's the best move if the opponent declines the gambit?2. Is it better to decline the gambit?3. Do you still follow the same principles if it's declined? Here's the game btw:
Technically, i guess if Black plays right, there is no vienna gambit, but this game did involve a piece sac by me (which was very questionable by the way but it felt like something in the spirit of the group so i thought i'd share). Hope you like it.

This was a game between Gambitking and myself, with a hell of a lot of gambits, loads of mistakes, and an extremely funny checkmate. Have fun!

Here's a nifty game where I had black and employed the Fischer Defense. It went pretty well I think.

A little poem I whipped up! I don't really despise gambits, but they do irk me. I did this for entertainment and because I was bored. I hope you all find it somewhat entertaining. Also, before reading this poem, you must sign a waiver absolving me of any responsibility for the numerous injuries that I will bestow upon you should you choose to hunt me down and "teach me a lesson". Ha ha, just kidding. Gambits. I hate them, I hate them both ways. Playing with and against them is a huge craze. Down in material, but with a massive attack? Ah, but it's the eye for tactics that I lack! I despise the King's, and the From is a pest I also hate the Benko and the Budapest. The Falkbeer and Albin both are just nuts, And the Duras looks like the work of a klutz! The Blackmar-Diemer is annoying as heck. The Englund and Soller are pains in the neck. I hate the Alesi, Hobbs, Borg, Wing, Schneider, Muzio, Latvian, Evans, and Ryder, The Halloween, Gibbins, Staunton, and Krejcik, The Halibut, Icelandic, Irish, Hartlaub-Charlick, The Omega, Omega-Delta, Danish, and Goring, The Ross and the Queen's, which can get quite boring, The Lohn, Blackburne-Kloosterboer, Gaga, Benoni, Comorant, Herrstrom, Smith-Morra, All of these gambits annoy me so much, Especially the ones against my beloved Dutch. Here ends my raving on these plays Although I really could bash them for days. Thank you for letting me tell the facts On what I think of these darn "sac attacks".
This was my first game with the Smith-Morra. I've included my thoughts on the game. Analysis appreciated.

As my slow return to playing average chess rounds the corner, once again i'm finding gambits to be the funnest way to play, regardless of things like soundness and white or black chances. Here, i used the elephant gambit and reached a great position any gambiteer would be proud of. Enjoy. All input is most appreciated. It isn't the prettiest game from white or black. Please bear with :)
Here's a few recent games with a buddy of mine that I managed to win. He is a true gambiteer. Every game I've played with him has been a gambit of some sort with me on the receiving end. These are some that I won. I've lost plenty of them as well. First up is a From Gambit game! I love to play the Bird opening and I was fully expecting the From Gambit from him when I played it. As I thought, he played it and I just happened to pull out a win! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- - - This next one is another From game. In this one, he played a new variation and it took me 3 games to work out what looked like a good response to it. Enjoy! - - - ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- - - This next game is a Benko game! I haven't played against the Benko very much, but I've won most of my games against it. This was definitely one of my better ones. - - - ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- - - Here's a Blackmar-Diemer game where I came back after a mistake early on. I may have had a bishop against a rook, but my passed pawns helped to seal the win! - - -

A gambit game with some irony at the end.

That's probably not a real name for an Englund line, but I decided to make it the title anyway just for fun!

With the Elephant Gambit gaining popularity try to keep this line in mind when attacking the EG or defending with it. ~Boog
