I wanted to know if anyone plays the scotch gambit religiously and has any variation that aren't normally seen or researched on the net...i have a few ideas myself....I am primarily an unorthodox player who loves to play the unplayable...as everyone knows a GUILLOTINE is niether good or evil it just gets the job done...

Here is a KG tourney devoted to researching an almost untested line in the KGD - 2...g6. I thought I'd post this here to see if anyone wants to play in it. There are only 2 more open spots, so if you want to try this variation out, join quickly.

It's sweet.....I cant think of any picture more suitable for a bunch of aggresive, blood-thirsty gambiteers.

As the title indicates, the endgame that arose from my latest Queen's Gambit had my two bishops vs. his two rooks. I figured that my passed pawn would be the decider and I felt confident I could hold against two rooks with two bishops (or against one rook with one bishop if he traded one off). My rating has plunged because of a long losing streak I've been on, so I've been having to play lower rated people. Hopefully you'll be seeing more games against 1300s soon. PS. The Queen's Gambit might not be a real gambit, but I'm going to keep posting my games with it on here. You guys are just going to have to live with it!

These two games are proof that the Queen's Gambit can be just as exciting as the other "real" gambits.
StrategicusRex Dec 24, 2009
Would someone mind explaining why the Queen's Gambit is not considered a real gambit by almost everyone here?
Gambitking Dec 24, 2009
I know a lot of you here say the Queen's Gambit isn't really a gambit. Well, gambit or not, you can have some really fun games with it. The following are three games I have recently played in live chess. They are three of the wildest QG games I have ever played. The QG and the games that can arise from it are just two reasons why I love 1. d4. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Here is the first game. My opponent dropped a lot of material in this game, and I was able to overwhelm him. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ever had one of those games where you opened up your king position and got into a cool setup and pulled out a win? Here is a game where exactly that happened. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Why not top it all off with a game where you outsmart yourself? Ever had one of those games where you got ahead of yourself and lost the game as a result? Here is a classic "outsmarted yourself" game. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- And that, fellow gambiteers, concludes this little article on how the Queen's Gambit can lead to wild play and how you can shoot yourself in the head by overlooking a simple threat. Farewell.

For a while now i've been tooling with ways to respond to 1.d4. The budapest is fun, but i'm finding the albin to be a rollercoaster from beginning to end. Submitted for your approval.

The King's Gambit has helped me weather the 1300s in the ratings pretty well. Here is another game.
StrategicusRex Dec 19, 2009
Hey guys! Here is another King's Gambit game, this time ending in a draw. The R+R vs. R+B endgame was exhilarating! Just looking to see what you all think of it. I know I slipped up in my earlier posts (such as overlooking that mate in one someone else told me about), but hey, we all blunder. Here is the game! I probably could have won it at the end when I was up a bishop, but I was happy to take the draw when it became clear that was where it was headed.

These were some weird King's Gambit games. What's weirder is that I won both of them.
StrategicusRex Dec 18, 2009
I am not mainly an e4 player. I play d4 and b4 more often, but whenever I do play e4 and get e5 as a response, I play the King's Gamibit almost every time. Here are some pretty wild King's Gambit games I have played recently. I hope you enjoy them!

Gambitking and I both had a series of matches, it went back in forth. One of the gambits I'm starting to learn is the gibbins gambit. Well heres the game we played. We both made mistakes but it was very interesting. It ended in a draw. http://www.chess.com/livechess/game.html?id=3588154

I've been learning the KGA bishop's gambit and this was my first time facing the flakbeer counter gambit. I got a solid win out of it against a quality player. Enjoy. Please feel free to comment. I'm sure i was losing at one point LOL.
Here's a game where I was black and played the latvian gambit. Great tactics by and well here you go. I won on time but I think I had a sure win. Reminder it was a 3/0 game.
