https://www.chess.com/variants/spell-chess/game/53536908/44/1\ On move 6 for white why can't I freeze bishop and kill the queen? (Sorry if I am being a absolute idiot)

In this game here, at the end, I thought that if it is white to move, and he has the jump spell available, then could use the jump spell on his own king and take my queen with the rook. This should be possible, right? Of course, this would mean that the chess engine would kind of have to calculate moves in which the king is able to get out of check in order to determine whether or not the game can continue, which in spell chess may be a bit much, but technically we already do the exact same thing in normal chess, so in my opinion I don't think this should count as checkmate. Thoughts? Also why can't I insert the game as a chess diagram thingy? I tried pasting the url but it doesn't work :/

Thats a really funny game. . You loose if you take the opponents last piece. You cant offer draw and winning is completly impossible. https://www.chess.com/variants/sergeants-checkers/game/54465617

At the moment it's only the main server (chess.com/variants) that has the bot players disabled; the test server (chess.com/variants-test) doesn't, so you can go there if you want to. Hope this helped

Dear all, In my chess variant page, there is a warning 'You have 2 variant windows/tabs open" as shown in the picture below. I have tried everything I could to resolve this issue but any attempts were unsuccessful. I have tried to log out from all of my devices, and also changed the password. Is this a bug? Please help! Thank you!

The fourth World Champion Alexander Alekhine considered in 1933 that chess did not need any changes at the time, but that combining "the best features" of the Asian varieties of chess with Western chess "would be a more natural evolution than adding new squares and pieces, or some of the other changes that have been proposed". However, this consideration seems confused about what "the best features” of Xiangqi and Shogi, the big two Asian varieties of chess, actually are. Both draw less frequently than Western chess not just because stalemate is a win, but also because the Pawns can’t blockade each other at all. Canalejas Long Checker Chess Additional context: Juan García Canalejas was a Spanish mathematician who published the first attested description of the “coup du fondeur des cloches”. The board is 10x8 because the new pieces are the common long checker kings crowned with the chess King moves: the Senator being the orthogonal piece and the Judge being the diagonal piece. However, they may only capture once per turn. Alternatively, they may use approach capture as in Fanorona, or even both modalities. In this case, they may only capture two pieces in a turn when they do not land multiple squares beyond the first piece they take. The Pawn can simply move forward, but still only captures diagonally. The Pawns start on the third rank and do not have a double step, the orthodox pieces start 8 in a row behind the central pawns and the Senators and the Judges start on four of the remaining squares, one of each on each side. However, there is a square variant where the Pawn does get a double step and has to move orthogonally to lose this right. Promotion is still earned at the 8th rank and can be delayed until the 10th on the square board, but it does not cancel the Pawn’s right to reset the 50/75 move count by simply moving. For Canalejas Random Long Checker Chess, I recommend excluding the new pieces from the shuffle primarily because it obfuscates their Asian allusions. A game is won by physically taking the King, but a quarter point may be claimed for first baring the orthodox pieces and is given by force for perpetual check or being the player making a two-move loop.

the Bb5 is a winning move. the only thing you need to do is to ride your pawn to d4, keep the square occupied and not do any serious blunders. Good luck!
coregal chess. the queen is subject to check and checkmate, just like the king. if the queen or the king is checkmated, the checkmating player wins. castling works both ways for the queen and the king(castling rules apply). pawns can promote to queen, but that queen will also be subject to check and checkmate. this means that scholar's mate does not work, and that queens cannot give a check from one square. i think this would be rlly interesting
“Emanuel and Edward Lasker“ Gothic Checker Chess The board is 8x10 because the new pieces are stronger versions of orthodox pieces: Speed Master (fFcefFmfW[cel]fK[cl]sWimnAimnD), National Master (NmK[cl]K), Candidate Master (K[cl]K), FIDE Master (BmW[cl]K), International Master (RmF[cl]K), Grandmaster (Q[cl]K). The SM can use its checker moves to capture en passant and the FM, IM and GM can double displace on the next two squares in front of themselves and this is the only way masters may do multiple captures where the pieces are in different squares. Alternatively, they may use approach capture as in Fanorona, or even both modalities. En passant is also treated like an ordinary capture. The Pawns and SMs start in the same squares so both can have an initial double step. In order to be fair, any orthodox piece may share a square with the Master which has the same orthodox moves. Line pieces may also pass through the first square in their lines occupied by the player’s other piece. But if two pieces are in the same square, they must be captured separately. To balance the defensiveness of castling, any orthodox piece and the Master which has the same orthodox moves may move on the same turn. Promotion is still earned at the 8th rank, but Pawns and SMs do not have to promote until the 10th and it does not cancel their right to reset the 50/75 move count by simply moving. Until all SMs have promoted or been taken, only they may promote to NM, FM, IM or GM. A game is won by physically taking the King, but a quarter point may be claimed for baring the orthodox pieces and is given by force for perpetual check or being the player making a two-move loop.

I recently became interested in chess and started looking into different variants. I came up with three variant ideas that might intrigue some players. I believe these are new and thoughtfully designed. Four Square Rules: The objective of the game is to position four of your pieces within the central four squares of the chess board or the four corner squares of the board. Everything else follows standard chess rules Reanimation Chess Rules: The objective of the game is to capture all of the opponent’s pieces If you have less than eight pawns your King can summon a new pawn that goes on your first rank (if a free square is available) (Doing this counts as one turn) Kings do not get checked in this game, but they can be captured. A pawn is removed from the board after it captures any piece other than a pawn. Each new pawn moves as normal, and can go forward two squares on their first move. Win through capturing pieces or by having more remaining when the time expires This variant creates an incentive for aggressive play and strategic captures Novelty Chess This chess variant adds two new rules to the game, similar to castling and en passant. The idea is to add more variety and creativity to the tried and true game. King-Queen Exchange: On your turn, you can swap the positions of the King and Queen on the board The two pieces must be in their original starting positions Neither piece can have moved before the swap The King cannot be in check (before or after the move) Can be performed once per game, similar to castling Does not disable the player’s ability to castle Kingside or Queenside Royal Decree: The King moves two squares on the board (in any direction - both moves) in one turn The King cannot be in check (before or after the move) Must travel over empty squares The King cannot capture pieces on this turn Allowed once per game Thank you for reading, if you have any thoughts or comments let me know!

First things first, do not construe this topic as invalidating “Emanuel and Edward Lasker“ Gothic Checker Chess in any way. That game merely shows typical traits of games invented by great players of existing games. While taking an alternate way to make a logically complete set of pieces (In the same way that the Knight is commonly said to jump obliquely, checkers pieces are said to capture by jumping straight), I hampered myself by adopting the premise that all pieces in the chess army should remain intact if possible. Thus, instead of eliminating the opposition and blockade strategy against the Chess pawns at all, “Emanuel and Edward Lasker“ Gothic Checker Chess creates new types of pieces to execute it with by the complex Master-Amateur rules. Also, it is somewhat misleading to imply that the Chessmasters are the only way not to make overly unbalanced new pieces by placing Checkers on a substrate of Chess. In fact, doing it that way hampered me too by necessitating an augmented Queen to complete the set. Moreover, Gothic Checkers is the esoteric game of the short king type.
