I'd love to see that feature using the ECO code.

What was the update for?

1. To force members to stop playing chess and (re-)start partying?

2. To fix a year-rollover bug whereby everybody whose rating was 2009 found their rating halved?

I think unrated Tactics Trainer puzzles should work a bit like the daily puzzles; an incorrect move should simply prompt an "Incorrect: Try again" instead of an end to the puzzle and having to reload and restart the puzzle all over again.

The green command toolbar on chess.com that appears at the top of every page

is fantastic for providing access (via dropdown menus) to virtually all of the site's facilities.

The links at the bottom of every page, however, are virtually invisible.

Very few people are aware of them until they are pointed out by someone else. There is seldom a need to scroll to the bottom of the screen. Would it be a good idea to provide a copy of these bottom-of-page links as a dropdown menu to a new command toolbar item EXTRAS at the TOP of every page - alongside PLAY LEARN READ etc. ?

I had an idea that I don't know if anybody has ever tried...and I don't know if it's even worth it to consider it: has anyone ever come up with variations of chess boards? Such as creating a board that has one or two additional boards worth of space, or squares, extending either the ranks, (an extra board on either side), or the files, (an extra board in the middle), or some other variation? (I suppose the only variation I've ever seen was Dr. Spock's multi-tiered board on Star Trek, and I've never seen anyone playing that kind of variation in real life.)

It has been considered previously. This website  http://www.chessvariants.com contains details of hundreds of chess variants. This is just their top-level menu ...

i think it would be nice to be able to comment on games after they are over, like a way for players to analyze them without having to post them in the forums.

That's a neat idea.

One primitive way to do it would be to cite the game reference e.g.

http://www.chess.com/echess/game.html?id=12148699

move 16

what's the longest no. of moves that two queens have been en prise from each other?

Better still, if the game reference could include a MOVE NUMBER e.g.

http://www.chess.com/echess/game.html?id=12148699?move=16?comment="what's the longest no. of moves that two queens have been en prise from each other?"

so that a board was opened at the specific position when you clicked on the link. These would be like footnotes (or annotations) that you could choose to enable on your own games.

How about improving video search? eg. type in the exact title of the video to find it.

Not sure if this was said, but it'd be cool to be able to choose real-life tournament time settings in live chess, for practice.

Avatar of draco_alpine

Like Bruiser419 said so say 20mins for 40moves with 20mins incresment after 40move completion

It is one of several noteworthy anomalies discussed here ...  http://www.chess.com/forum/view/community/dulce-et-decorum-est
