To me is it too a little unclear what a troll is, but if I understand macer75 well, then should humour be a part of it. For the good or the worse, Chiaroscuro62 and you do not display a lot of humour in your posts. To put it mildly. :-)

If I understand macer75 well, then should it be some refreshing posts in the threads. In some other thread posted Irontiger an article about the German language. It made me laugh. If that is trolling, then is Irontiger definitely a troll.

I don't think that people who annoy other people are trolls in the definition of macer75.

Yup, generally speaking I would say that is pretty much my definition of trolling. The only things is that there isn't a clear line between "trolls" that entertain and "trolls" that annoy, and a lot of trolls are in the gray area between those two (I won't list any examples in order to avoid bringing my own bias into the contest, but I'm sure everybody who's been on the chess.com forums for a while can think of plenty). In addition, deciding whether something is entertaining or annoying (or offensive) is subjective. Some people see all off-topic comments in a thread as annoying, including the ones made by trolls for the purpose of being funny and entertaining. And since different people have different senses of humor, some more crude and some more politically correct, a joke that is funny to some people may be annoying or even offensive to others.

macer75

Um... maybe you should post that question in a thread where people are actually insulting each other?

Anyway, in the comment by Bean_Fischer that you quoted, I really don't see how he is trolling, either by your definition or by mine.

thanks macer75 for confirming I m not trolling. Maybe she sees almost everybody is trolling here. The fact is she is one of them since she is in it.

macer75

Youre welcome :) Though of course technically I don't have the authority to "confirm" who's trolling or who's not; I was just stating my opinion.

I nominate TheARBChessSystem.

I might be mistaken, but I think Deweyexberger's account got banned a couple of days ago. He started a thread titled "my password is," and in his first post he gave out his password (I didn't check to see if it was real or not). And a few minutes later when I clicked on his username it says his account was deleted.

Could you provide a link to the thread or comment that you are nominating him for?

Oic. I'll add it to the list right away then.

Xieff should be troll of the month for bringing mythology into a thread about chess improvement.

Mr_Tarkanian

Macer, again, how am I voted by that thread I made???? It is a perfectly logical question.

Near master level online players cannot beat 1200 rated players in blitz?  Isn't that a little strange??  Ok, maybe its just me that finds it weird.

I lost to a 1200 in blitz once. In fact, I think my score for the night was 10-2-1. I drained half a bottle of bourbon while playing.

Mr_Tarkanian

Haha.  Once in a while I can see.....but consistently lose to them?  That was my bewilderment.

Consistent losses at that level in blitz combined with extremely strong correspondence play may suggest the nerves of old age. It is more likely to raise suspicions, however.

Mr_Tarkanian

James, you and I have about the same blitz rating and are nearly identical in age.  The separating factor involves my atrocious Online rating.  ( Excuses coming ) .....but that is because I move too quickly....or something.

Lately, I've been taking hours stretched over days in most of my online games. Lifted me from low- to mid-2000s to high-2100s. The fall is coming, though.

I'm playing a 1600 who I know has an OTB higher than my current, but close to where I was a month ago. Unless I win, the drop will be significant.

My blitz was 1800 a few weeks ago, but I have a hard time keeping it there.

Mr_Tarkanian

I wonder why that 1600 is only at 1600 if he's truly in the 1900's OTB?  Is he new on this site?

Probably. I haven't looked at his history. He sent the request for a challenge. I know of him in real life (he's well-known in my state). I didn't care about rating. It's a chance to get a lesson from a future GM, and maybe my last chance to beat him before he is completely out of my league.
