A fairly interesting way to snatch a free piece.

I was playing a friendly game with some buddies of mine last week and found myself in a very favourable position.

A very questionable move! It should be fairly simple for you to find the next move -- but try to go one step further...

And well that's it. Hope you enjoyed my little puzzle -- first one for me, so I'm sorry for the crude nature of it.

Interesting indeed

kaichess

well done for your first puzzle!

2. ... RG8

3. Nxh2 Bh3

Wouldn't that work? If you move the rook he can't fork both the queen and the rook so if he goes there you just move your queen, if he decides to take the free pawn, you just move the bishop to safety/attack.

LukeyJ,

2... Rg8 would be disaster...  3. exf7+ forking king and rook; gaining a queen

I don't think so, Cnbc.  There wouldn't be enough time to position the white knight before losing the pawn.

1. e6, Rg8

2. Kg5, Bxe6

3. Kxh7, ...

cnbcad-

Rg8 is correct.  There's nothing on f7 for the e-pawn to take.
