It would be helpful to Patzers like me if you included a diagram of the opening you're discussing.

@2Q1C That's the mainline right?
No. This is the mainline (and Black's not necessarily a cowardly player):

3.d6 seems like an interesting novelty, deviates from the mainline that 2Q1C was discussing earlier. Thank you.

Grandmaster Alexander Grischuk almost quit chess before couple a years ago when after consecutively attempt to refute the Petrov he end up hitting he's head in to a wall. One of the things why chess is beautiful it's the fact that the first player can not win so easily....unless your name is GM Dzindzi, then you can make videos refuting everything.
Apparently those who play the Petrov are very methodical players with lot of courage and discipline approach. I am not one of them.
There is a cool way to steal your opponents Queen in this opening.
You mean under 1000! I knew this 3 years ago and I'm twelve now, rated FIDE 1228.
1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nf6 3. Nxe5 Nxe4 4. Qe2 Qe7 5. Qxe4 d6
GOD, this is a not-so-cowardly line, gambit! Can't call it cowardly!

3.d6 seems like an interesting novelty, deviates from the mainline that 2Q1C was discussing earlier. Thank you.
Sarcasm? d6 is the main line actually just about only move
Interesting, I would think a6 is more sound. Here black tries to transpose to the St.George's defence.

The mainline is in fact 1. e4 1. e5 2. Nf3 2. Nf6 Draw by agreement.
Sounds like a Karjakin Carlsen match am I right guys? Sorry that's the first and last time I'll be making a joke. Just thought I would lighten things up for once.
@2Q1C That's the mainline right?
Maybe you should actually know the openings before deeming yourself shrewd enough to comment on a player's personality. This is a sideline, a simple trick that every beginner learns, and which I learnt from a book called chess for dummies! Your baffling narcissism is hardly backed by your meager achievements in the game you purport to love. Maybe you should be a little more humble in the face of your own ignorance!
Cowardly, Gutless, Fainthearted, Timid. 4 words, 4 adjectives. Who could they possibly be describing? If you guessed a Petrov's defence player, you are correct.
I often talk about my love and passion for the game of chess. How I wake up every morning, mouse in hand ready to move those elegant figurines around the virtual chess board presented in front of me.
I like to compare Chess to a beautiful tree, filled with luscious fruits which blossom when the game is played creatively. However, as they say, a few bad apples can spoil the bunch. In chess we do have these rotten apples. I've already discussed before the dreaded D4 player, and also players who employ the French Defence.
Today, our topic is Petrov's Defence. Please share your experiences playing against this defence, and explain why you think it's bad for our beautiful game.
