I really don't have any favorite games. And as of my favorite games that I played, all of my favorite games were played in agar.io

Hi Fred,

The history of board games has been looked at elsewhere and I am more interested in publishing new stuff as we work towards our book on the subject. (my wife is a historian)

I do have some interesting stuff and will put it out as seems appropriate.

My wife and I met on a fairly select chess research group.

That's cool! It's great when a married couple also works together.

You don't have any favorite famous games? Surely you're familiar with some of the most famous games ever played. I'll post one that almost everybody knows.

Well, Fred,

She is a lot smarter, prettier, younger and better educated than me so that works. wink.png

Why is this Queen so short?  Ok so ya it's an upside down rook!

@FBloggs thats an interesting concept about the knights and horses. Link me the thread plz?

@chessspy1 Although I still personally fail to see the significance of taking this topic seriously, I do respect your POV and liked your post. Your article on Staunton pattern chess pieces sounds an interesting read and it would be great if you could link me the article plz. Thnx in advance.

@imsighked2 I hope you learnt your lesson from this unfortunate incident and won't make same mistake as the poor Rooks. Go on then, eat your broccoli and kale

 Hi Mira,

There are links to my articles in this forum.

however,

I am not used to being gratuitously insulted. What I chose to take seriously and what I do not is surely my business and not yours.

She quoted Simon's entire post but my guess is she laughed at his comment to imsighked2, not the ones to you and me.

Time for another game. What would be an appropriate game for this thread? Perhaps an endgame featuring two rooks vs. rook and knight. We're all about rooks here.

FBloggs

Where'd everybody go? If I post a game, you're supposed to comment, people!  evil.png

stewardjandstewardj

well, there is a lot of rooks

And the person with more rooks won

And white is going to win using rooks

And white is likely to be a better player than white

Also note that while black has more knights, white has more pawns

And while black's pawns are more developed, white's king is more developed

And if black does Kd6 or Kc6, white can like threaten a pawn or something, I think

And isn't ironic how while the f6 and f7 pawn are facing each other, neither can kill each other?

If black does Rxf6, white should do Rxc5

And if black did Ke6, white would be able to do Ra6#

At least that would be if there was a pawn on d4

And a knight on b8

.......

For future reference, if you want your game analyzed, do not go to me lol

If that's supposed to be a poem, you're a really bad poet.  wink.png

stewardjandstewardj

XD that was not supposed to be a poem!

Here is a poem that is just a work of art:

Pinocchio lives in Tokyo

It rhymes, so it is a poem.

It's also true because it rhymes.

Anything that rhymes is true unless I say otherwise.

This is also true because it rhymes:

Believe and you can achieve. It's true because it rhymes.

Oh. It looked like a poem. I noticed it didn't rhyme but I'm sophisticated enough to know that poems don't necessarily have to rhyme - and to pretend I appreciate the ones that don't. I'm also sophisticated regarding art. I can look at a typical Picasso monstrosity with the nose on one side of the face and both eyes on the other side - and do a convincing impression of someone who doesn't think it's a piece of crap.

Is jax bowl slang for toilet? I googled and got nothing.
