IRREGARDLESS

they say it is. its just kinda oafy. its reirregardless that probably isnt...as fun is it is to say.

My sister in law uses this all the time, as well as "agreeance". I just have to remind myself that the English language is a dynamic thing defined by its usage, and if enough people use a word particular way often enough, then that's what it means.

Which is how "literally" has actually come to mean "in effect" or "virtually" and not just "actually". And probably how "inflammable" has come to mean the same thing as "flammable".

Confused-psyduck

All languages are bound to change. Even Chinese language which You would think is completely different from languages derived from latin or any other languages spoken in western countries, but there are words like 咖啡 (Ka fei) which means coffee and 可口可乐 (kekou kele) for coca cola, in arabic "telephone" is pronounced... telephone. One funny thing is that english speaking people like to say "rendez-vous", which is a french word, but at the same time french people like to use the word "meeting", which indeed is an english word, and coincidently Rendez-vous and Meeting mean the same thing.

The world of languages is fascinating Indeed!

Sorry for being off topic!

[OK, I've watched the first 90 seconds of that and then skipped forward to around the 4 minute mark of the 8 minute plus video, and this does seem primarily political in content.

I have therefore removed the video and will be assuming that any future videos in this series are also political in nature and will be removing those without reviewing them, unless someone explicitly states that they are not primarily political in nature.

No one is saying much that's worth listening to. It's no secret that the political discourse in this country is ridiculous.

It's no secret that [If you continue to post in moderator green you will be muted -- sincerely, your momma]

I have previously posted in the forums that the use of moderator green in the forums is not acceptable even as a joke or satire. Chess.com does not want even the remotest possibility of someone misinterpreting those as an actual comment from a real moderator even if some people that it should be obvious that it is not.

I am therefore giving @Thee_Ghostess_Lola and @llama44 a 24 hour mute for doing so.

Their content will reappear once their mute expires, but please - DO NOT DO THIS AGAIN.

dave it is satire . granted this has been used for millennia to show the idiocy of otherss esp those who seek to rule over others , but i think you ned to take a chillpill as we should be allowed to see the humour how4ver dark in things

Khannate1

i do agree though that johnathan pie s satire is very cutting towards those who need to be treated that way but he only holds a mirror up to them in reality

so do not shoot the messanger cheers

Unfortunately political satire draws political responses from the people who don't like to be targeted with that satire, as was the case with zborg's response. We are not starting down that path - sorry.

Personally, I agree with David here- we may not always agree with what moderators do, but there should be no confusion as to who they are.

Please note: my comment about the use of moderator green as joke or satire was not a reference to Jonathon Pie's video, but its use by Thee_Ghostess_Lola and llama44 in posts that are currently hidden because I gave them a 24 hour mute for doing so. It will make more sense once their mute expires and those posts become visible again - just thought I'd clarify.

Thanks,

I"m taking this as a veiled swipe at the mods, and while a mod might tolerate it as a normal response to being chastised, I don't want this kind of stuff in this thread.  I'd give a head ups before blocking here, but then there's the political content itself, so...

I don't watch the videos, usually, becuase I don't want my daughter to hear something by surprise that I didn't know was coming, but the same guidelines apply.  If the video is about the outbreak, or governments' handling of the outbreak, or people's reactions and opinions about the outbreak, that's all fine.  If a video is just a conservative vs. liberal hack job, or is primarily aimed at blaming political parties or ideologies for the outbreak, then don't post it here.
