So.....the question now is " can there be space without time" ?

I'm running out of space and time!

Following on from the thoughts about the apparent absence of Extra-terrestrial intelligent life .

The stars in our galaxy are going to be roughly the same age ,though we have found some that appear to be as old as the universe. Which , by the way , is consistent with the Unified Model but not the BBB.

Therefore it's plausible to suggest that 'Intelligent' life is in a current state of evolution.

Some much older and some much younger.

Then you have the huge distances between stars to contend with . Then there is the problem of what to do when you arrive at an Alien planet. Even if it had an atmosphere that we cold breath we would still need a space suit to protect us from all those alien germs.  Imagine going all that way and being unable to even do a little shopping? !

Big Bang Bollox....that is the official name for that Theory now....it's true....inflation

Avatar of DrSpudnik

Since inflation reduces the value of everything, after a while, the value of the matter (and time and space) of the issue at hand won't really be worth mentioning.

Avatar of Iknowthemoves

Can't accept that inflation reduces the value of all things. Balloons for example ... stock market....breasts...Big Macs...the Euro millions unclaimed jackpot.....Trifle. Can we know the unknowable? Can cheese ,in it's naturàl state , be used as a weapon? ..and what dreams may come when we have shuffled off this mortal coil...we are such stuff as dreams are made on when this little life is rounded with a sleep.

One more nail in the BBB coffin.

So then you have super quantum computers. For us they are in their infancy but for an advanced race a quantum computer may be just a toy for their 5 year olds. Within 20 years we will be able to feed all the factors of a distant planet into one of them and it will predict what life forms will ,most likely, exist their.

Why would an alien make the trip here when it can simply ask it's advanced quantum computers what life exists here?

It would be like going to Antarctica to see penguins . Why would you when you've already seen them on TV?

The article highlights just some of the ludicrous claims made in current theory...galaxies moving away from us at 4 times the speed of light , it being 96 billion Light years wide but only 13.8 Billion years old

etc . All this has been accounted for by other ludicrous theory so what do I know? I know the moves.

That's about it.

They say we're being sucked towards the Andromeda Galaxy at like 68 mi/sec....and 69 on a good day !

Finally, good news for once!

'Quantised Inertia' could make the Dark Matter hypothesis redundant. However this theory has been around now for a couple of years without making headlines so not holding out that much hope for it.

It needs a publicist. Even the lamest idea needs a media campaign.

This has been well publicised as the verification of "Spooky Action at a Distance" or Quantum Entanglement . Which is HUGE. It is also posited that the mechanism for its ,now confirmed, existence is that space itself may be quantised and have a timeless substructure. I'm paraphrasing there.

But that would fit nicely with the Unified Model having a timeless dimension / worm hole.

In the Quantised Universe Space may separate from Time altogether.

Perhaps in the Quantised Universe space doesn't exist . But i'm just idly speculating now.

Exciting times for Quantum computing and a possible answer to why the Universe exists at all.

If we can crack that riddle then we may be able to do the seemingly impossible and make something from nothing. Imagine how amazing it would be if we could make a single Hydrogen atom from a piece of space ?

Exciting 4u. I'm being asked 2be in two places at once all the time here....and that stresses me out (To me: Just say no....)

Which now I wonder if subatomic particles can choose to be somewhere or not. I mean, I do and they say I'm made up of clusters of SA particles....hmmm)
