OTF's April posting in review, and the first thread of the month winner!

OTF, as we know it, is a joke. There are lots of spammers, trolls, and the average age around here is dipping below the required age to be here. Few people contribute meaningfully, and there are even fewer good posts to go around. But boohoo!

In wanting to do something that had never been done before, and that I knew nobody would want to do, I went through every post on OTF created in April, at least skimmed through it, and categorized it. I did this to give myself and the community a completely honest view of what is being posted here each month. I made a total of 8 findings, which will be shown below. At the very end, I’ll list and link every thread that I thought was fairly well-made, and even award the best thread for April! Enjoy.

• The total number of threads. (Calculated by me simply counting them over a long period.)
• The number of spam threads. (Calculated by my judgment of a spam thread. I was pretty lenient, looking back.)
• The number of threads that asked a question. (Calculated by me, finding out how many threads asked a question or invited engagement to a thread.)
• The number of ‘person above you’ threads. (Found by the number of ‘person above you’ threads there were)
• The number of chat threads/ AMAs. (Calculated based on how many AMA/chat threads were created.)
• The total number of goodbye threads. (Found by how many goodbye threads there were.)
• The number of threads involving a roleplay (Basixally, anything with ‘RP’ in it)
• The number of threads in a language other than English. (All threads in other languages. 

How this works: Not every thread fits into a category at all. This is what we call a ‘normal thread’. But, in some cases, threads fit into many. For example, a ‘Will you date the person above you’ thread will fit into both spam and the ‘person above you’ category. The same can be said for those asking a question in a thread. Chat threads and AMAs were labeled in their respective sections only, however.

Now, for the results.

• Total threads created in April: 870
• Total spam threads: 358 (generously).
• Total threads asking a question: 218
• Total ‘person above you’ threads: 48
• Total chat threads/AMAs created: 54
• Total goodbye threads: 14
• Total roleplay threads: 18
• Total threads in a language other than English: 16

Obviously, these results are shocking to say the least. To put everything into perspective, 870 threads a month is almost 30 thread posts a day. By my calculations, 41% of all threads created here are terrible slop that we call ‘spam.’ These are the hello threads, emoji spams, ‘person above you’ threads, and other forms of spam that have no use at all in this community. It was eye-opening to conduct this experiment to see just how poor the quality of threads is here. Otherwise, the results aren’t anything too crazy. Over ¼ of the threads asked some sort of question that they needed assistance with, which is one of the main reasons these forums exist.

But, out of all of the terrible threads posted this month, there were some bright spots. Below is the April thread creation hall of fame: threads that were well-posted and showed at least a little bit of effort. Congrats to those whose thread shows up below! For her creativity and amazing photography skills, I proudly announce @heeujdeuewi as the winner of thread of the month. The pictures he took were beautiful, and it was amazing to flip through all of the photos presented. Thank you all for playing, and I’ll see you next month!

I hope you all liked this new style of thread. Please know that 'the best thread' is subjective, and simply my own opinion. I hope everyone has a lovely weekend, and stays slay!

That's the goal! I just thought it was fun to look through OTF to see the good posts and, of course, to get an honest look at how many bad ones are being created. It was a fun experiment; I may try to do it monthly.
