It's time for my KOTL

Elevators

You're at the bottom of a rather large building with five floors. The only way to get up to the next floor is by going up in an elevator. Each elevator only goes up one floor, so you'll have to find a new one to go higher. Each floor will be different and there might be some secrets for you to find. One last thing. Each elevator has no walls, it's just a floor that goes upward. While you are riding up an elevator, you can easily be attacked from the floor above or below, or by someone else on the elevator. Be careful.

To win, you'll have to reach floor 5 and successfully grab the large golden net, which is located somewhere on the floor.

The winner gets 100 points, while everyone else will get up to 45 points based on activity and up to 45 points based on skill. Killing another player will give you +10 points and dying will give you -10 points.

LFA will not be in play this game, you may make IM actions but they can not involve an attack on another player.

Let the games begin!

“Bad” KOTL? Oh dear.

ChessNerd1320

I'm being honest wink.png

hitthepin

Oof. Well, I’ll join, of course.

I’ve been thinking. There’s KOTL classics that can be recycled in several forms. Detention, MM, RTM, STN, etc. We should try to create a new “type” of classic game that can be done repeatedly. And here’s the perfect place to try it!

ChessNerd1320

I like that idea. Give me a place to start and I'll try to come up with something

HorribleTomato

We can strip each one down to their basic forms

1. You are in somewhere. Get out.

2. Everything is peaceful but there's one guy who wants to kill everybody. Kill him.

3. You want something in somewhere. Get in and get out.

4. You are in somewhere and you cannot escape. Live for as long as possible.

ChessNerd1320

Maybe I could do something similar to Survival: Absolute Zero, only make it a team game where you have to survive as long as possible. Or maybe everyone is on their own and they face the same waves, but the last one standing wins?

HorribleTomato

KOTL should always be interactive, I would think. Or it's just a collection of one player vs npc games.

ChessNerd1320

Yeah if everyone is on their own that doesn't seem like much fun.

hitthepin

Ok. Let’s brainstorm some ideas.

I mean, there’s the classic plot of crusading to stop a villain.

HorribleTomato

Game types:

Escape- You are in somewhere. Get out.

MM- Everything is peaceful but there's one guy who wants to kill everybody. Kill him.

Robbery- You want something in somewhere. Get in and get out.

Survival- You are in somewhere and you cannot escape. Live for as long as possible.

Boss Fight- There is a big bad person you work together to defeat.

Scavenger- You are on an open world map with a bunch of people. Collect items all throughout the map and reach an objective.

Battle- Everybody wants to kill each other. Last man standing wins.

ChessNerd1320

Out of those categories I'd like to try doing a Survival or Scavenger game

HorribleTomato

Scavenger can usually be mixed with like a battle style game.

Find items all over the map, fight to the death at the end.

ChessNerd1320

So would it be the items you find helped you in the final battle?

HorribleTomato

Yup. Or you could have a survival/boss fight game at the end. Scavenger games are usually compatible with many other gamemodes. You could even have a murder mystery at the end except the only items allowed are the ones gained by scavenging.

ChessNerd1320

I think a scavenger game that ends off in survival could be cool. The items you find are the only ones you could use for the end so it would be hard to survive for long if you didn't get a lot of items.

HorribleTomato

That's never been done before. In fact, I've done only one (actually good) scavenger game and that didn't have anything at the end of it. It was also based off of @eryxc's love cookies.

So, Scavenger type games are pretty unexplored.
