I do not like the new, smaller analysis bar!

I'm in Beta and assumed that given the initial feedback in Beta 16 days ago it wouldn't be released to the general public.

Why Beta test if the negative feedback doesn't halt the release of inferior product?

Ah, you've fallen into the age old trap. Companies offer beta tests to drive up hype and increase player engagement.

They have literally no interest in what you have to say. Look at the history of Blizzard with OverWatch Beta for a similar example.

*Company implements change that 100% of its beta users disagree with

"We did not have enough information to conclude this was poor choice before releasing it to the general populaiton" Company.

They don't want you to tell them their ideas are bad, they want you to sign in and check out what's on the beta, increasing your traffic to their site.

That is a bit of an overstatement. Yes I've been frustrated as a beta user seeing "new features" released from Beta with major bugs documented in Beta beforehand. Take Library Collections as an example.

Apparently the UX overhaul of the Analysis Report board layout may be another case. I hope not. See Suggestion/Proposal [ ] : Analysis Report Layout changes for an improved layout over the current update which is a downgrade.

However I have made many UI Suggestions in beta and seen over 30 implemented over the last 2 years.

Testing it? Read this thread. The test is over. The thin bar is a total fail and should never have gone beyond consideration. There is not one positive comment here. We don't need an 'option' we need the old bar back and a review of how new features are considered.

If this is how Chess.com tests new feature adjustments then you have idiots for programmers. Tests are not done by implementing changes site wide and then seeing how they fly. You test in a Beta version of the software and then get feedback and then decide if the feature is going to make it into the live software. It is clearly obvious that whoever thought this change was a good idea has never used the software and obviously doesn't play Chess - only a complete idiot would have thought this change was going to be a good idea. Not a SINGLE comment here in this feedback thread thinks this change makes the software utility better.  Fix this issue please and do it quick.

Santoy

Agreed. Previous one is much better.

Give us the old bar back.

Efaganov

The worst idea ever! It's really hard to see the evaluation numbers.... Really sad!

TheKnightsAlliance

So hey, Chess.com, if you listening and care at all, the answer should be very clear by now.

Please change it back.

Sincerely - Everyone

I hate the new eval bar, change it back ...

joshsum

Recently chess.com has changed the way analysis bar looks during analysis review.  It is now much thinner and no longer displays the point difference easily.  Instead you have to hover over the bar for it to display.  This makes it much hard to view when going through the moves.  I really hope chess.com changes it back to the old look.  What do you guys think?

Thank you

lol I thought that bar was just me

Weeeeebang

I just spent the last week trying to change my settings, as I thought it was something I'd done.. why not show the numbers... its important to me to make sure I improve my end game... I loved seeing figures like M8 and then seeing if I was good enough to get it. Unfortunately not enough of the time but it was a development tool.. now I have no idea.. what a backwards step in the pursuit of design.

We premium members waste our money if we do that

Imbalance42

Same. Please change it asap chess.com team.

They said it over a week ago, it is not rocket science to roll back a UI change, just revert a commit...

Dentangle

It would be nice if chess.com made accessibility more of a priority in general.

There's a lot of barely legible text on the site (especially these forums, where some comments use low contrast text in their posts that's hard to read with 20/20 eyesight). Having to mouseover the status bar to see the analysis score is not very discoverable (regular users of the site know it went "missing", but new users won't even know it's there), and difficult for anyone with poor eyesight to use. Even with perfect eyesight, having to wave the mouse over things to read them wastes time. In a game analysis, that time is wasted every single move (click, mouseover, click, mouseover).

chess.com please think carefully before making stylistic changes for the sake of it.

This is a huge problem in the software and web development world in general. I work with someone with vision problems and I spend a lot of time having to report defects to various sites and tools we work with, because few developers take enough care.

They said an option would be added to get the old bar back, not that the change would be reverted. New code will be added so it can be chosen.

krzaq2

In the meantime, the most sensible move would be to rollback the obviously disliked change. Just look at how many posts this topic has - it's an order of magnitude more than the rest of topics in Site Feedback.

Not sure how this change meshes with that idea, but it is on the radar
