lol that happens to me and if i spend too much time on a tactic i lose 40 or so points even if i get it right. its the same with live chess i might win 40 points but if i lose ill lose over 100 its ridiculous =[

Don't really agree with the 'harsh' topic of your thread but yes, they do need to get rid of the timer at the least; the objective is to find the best move, not the best move in a given time. I have suffered myself due to this and my tactic ratings are a testament to that....
Are you saying you don't wanna spend money to lose points?? I'd have to agree with you; I'm not familiar with the free plan. Can you use tactics trainer if your not paying??
You can use the trainer for three tactics every day without paying...and actually, I wouldn't mind paying money to get more tactics since losing points initially means that I will 'learn' in the future and get better...it's just that getting two out of three tactics wrong everyday due to time trouble can be a little disheartening. If there was no time thingy, I would have definitely been above 1700 (Or so I hope!)
Here's something for you to think about: why do you care what your tactics trainer rating is? It's not about the rating, it's about solving the problems and getting better at tactics, if you get tactics right, you'll remember the pattern and be able to use them in your game.
YOUR RATING ON TACTICS TRAINER DOESN'T MATTER.
Ok, I'm far from being a great player, and my inherent and too well developed capacity for introspection knows how petulant and childish this will sound, but I'm getting increasingly infuriated at Tactics Trainer. I've read a lot of comments here about it and agree with many, but the timer isn't what's turning me into a baby whose blocks keep tumbling down. It's the point system, which punishes brutally and disproportionately to the rewards. Fail, and the hammer comes down with a very punitive number of points subtracted. Solve a several move problem and wow, you get 1, 2, or 3 points. But you can lose 12 in one blow. All out of proportion.
