My Grandad taught me to play using the "Autochess" board game with overlays to learn how the pieces moved ... and on from there ... during the summer of 1972 (when I turned 8) at their beach house on 22nd Street in Surf City NJ, Long Beach Island (LBI) ... one house back from the ocean side dunes.   He played for his school chess club and often sent in his solutions to the chess puzzles in the Philadelphia Inquirer.  We played many games over the years until he passed, sadly, in 1989.  I try to channel him every time I play.  One of his favorite sayings when we played was: "What was I going to do when you did that?"  happy.png
