Hi, guys, today I will be adding on to my Openings series, and I will be featuring the Scandinavian Defense. It is dynamic and opens up the position really quick, but you will lose a tempo. I will go over some of the lines that are found in the database, so let's get into it!

Today I will be covering the exd5 variation, but I will go over the Nc3 variation later as well.

The Mieses-Kotrč

This is what you usually see. Black loses a tempo and white can get central control with d4, but the center is open for black(if you are a player that likes open positions, maybe this is for you).

The Modern Variation
The Modern Variation seeks to keep the tempo while still winning the pawn back.  Although c4 after the knight recaptures is still possible, it is weird looking and potentially blocks the light squared bishop from entering on b5 or other squares.
c6 and e6 Variations

This is where black gambits a pawn in order to get fast development. These have not been played much, but it might be interesting if you are seeking to get a fast attack or something.

That's it for now, and thanks for reading!
