Tips for Bughouse(Part I)

So today I am going to be talking about bughouse. I'm probably not going to get it all done in one day, so this'll be done in parts.

So in case any of you guys don't know what bughouse is, you can check out this article

I'm assuming you a) have read the article or b) already know what bughouse is. Ok, so let's start it off. Here are some tips.

1. Pawns become more powerful in bughouse. Because you can now drop them anywhere onto the board, forks are easier to do. Also, when there are less pieces on the board, the more powerful a dropped pawn on the seventh rank or second rank is.

2. Knights become more powerful as well. Since now you can drop knights onto anywhere on the board, again ,forks become more powerful.

3. Pins are also more powerful. Because you can exploit them in many different ways. For example, if a knight were pinned to the queen by a rook, you could just simply drop a pawn attacking the knight and now you've won a powerful piece. (see tip 2).

4. Establish "strongholds", as I like to call them. Strongholds are basically pawn chains that are deep into your opponent's territory. If you have one, it could be a base for dropping a pawn onto the seventh rank. You could use as base for forks and skewers, as I like to use them for. They are extremely useful and if in front of your opponent's king, you could just drop a queen and deliver a kiss of death checkmate.

That's all for now, but thanks for reading! Part II should be Tricks for Bughouse, and I'll get working on it soon.
