Hey, I was wondering if anyone had any really cool stories that have come about as a result of playing 4pc or being part of the 4pc community? Redemption stories, Tales of revenge :0, People flipping their lid after losing a game... that sort of thing, it can be anything.
(Try avoiding mentioning players names unless you have permission, or the context is nominal, or you know they would be totally chill with it - we don't want to cause any flame wars or put people in the spotlight in case they don't want it).
Here's one from me and my girlfriend:
It's all a Conspiracy >:0
There's this really amazing 4pc teams player from Norway, he's the best there is. He's absolutly stunning. Genuinely a great guy, when he plays 4pc he makes it look like plain sailing...
For months me and my gf formulated this entire conspiracy about him (you know who you are, sorry bud xd)... See the thing is, we were still pretty new to the 4pc community back then and we started wondering who this amazing player was... looking back on it, it's actually kind of rediculous but from what little we knew and how unfamiliar we were to the 4pc community it made total sense.
All we knew was he was the best at the game, he is from Norway, and once, while watching one of his games from the server, I saw him get snappy at his teammate for apparently losing the game (I'm way worse for the record and who wouldn't get annoyed at that anyway?)...
It kind of reminded me of this other player I knew who was also from Norway, was the best in his game and was well known to be short-tempered if something didn't go his way...
As a result, for about 2 months, me and my gf had this whole conspiracy where we believed that the number one 4pc teams player in the world was also the number one chess player in the world Magnus Carlsen.
Why wasn't Magnus Carlsen using his main account? Because he has a contract with another chess website of course! Magnus Carlsen is bored with being the best at regular chess, so he finds true fulfillment by becoming one of the leading pioneers of the newest and (in my opinion) best chess variants there is... he doesn't need people to know he's the best at 4pc, he does it for himself and uses the 4pc community as a way to escape the fame and limelight he gets from being the regular chess world champion. I was so convinced and whenever we talked about his games we would always refer to this player as "Magnus".
I kept it between myself, my gf and my parents (for bragging rights; *yeh I know...) and I decided not to mention it to anyone else especially within the 4pc community. If Magnus wants to keep his identity a secret then who am I to disturb his peace? Let him be... and if fate should decide that he reveals to me his true identity then I can tell him that I knew all along...
So this player has a Twitch account and he streams regularly. I can categorically confirm that he is not in fact Magnus Carlsen but a brilliant chess player that also happens to be from Norway (population: 5,450,000+).
Looking back on it, it is clear to see that I was an absolute idiot; but me and my gf had a right royal laugh about it afterwards. What did I learn from this experience? Don't judge a book by it's cover; Assume nothing; Nils Olav is a Brigadier.
