that moment when your teammate doesn't really consider your moves because you have a very low rating and he thinks, he knows best because he is way higher than you, but you end up losing anyways

I learned how to do this yesterday when I was checkmated in this way as green. Today I got to do it to green with the red pieces. (Team Mode) I'm pretty sure this is the fastest mate.

I played a few games the other day, started with a rating of 1710ish, won 2 games, then improved to 1790. The second of those games ended about 5 minutes before a reboot. I sign back on later, not having played any games since, and my rating is back down to 1710. Fast forward to today. Another reboot about half an hour ago. I've mated one person, have the most dominant position (and most points), and am set up to win the game. Reboot. I re-enter the game, and instead of 35 points, I only have 15. The reboot took away the points I earned for mating. Not only that, but I make my move waiting for the next person to go. They time out, back to me. And then it won't let me make a move, and I time out and end up placing 4th in the game....when I had the most points! I really enjoy four player, but all these bugs are putting me off from playing. I was pretty steady at 1800-1900. Now these bugs are causing me to lose points faster than I can even re-win them. I'm winning 3 out of 4 of all my games and stand at below 1600 right now. WTF!

I think there should be three player chess on chess.com. The rules could be like the ones onVat19's 3p chess game. I think it would make it more interesting since it's harder to visualize. You could have a 1-minute timer with 20-second delay since the weird bishop and knight moves would require more time to think.

Before judging how bad this idea sounds, hear me out. In team mode there are a lot of aggressive strategies and many games end very early. It is also really hard to punish a team that just develops their queens early and tries to checkmate with their queens. While some of the short games have been enjoyable, I have found games where the queens are traded off early to be much more interesting when there is more potential to actually play a decent middlegame (and sometimes endgames) and not just having games decided in the opening. This said I think the variant might be more fun if we limit the power of the queen. I propose that the queen should only be able to move 1 square in each direction (like the king) which will make it a much more defensive piece that can help protect the king, but not very useful in aggressive strategies. I think this would make the variant more enjoyable. I understand that changing the movement of pieces have a big downside of not being the same as classical chess that we all know anymore. I am also sure that people will get better at dealing with aggressive strategies in teams as time goes on. Still I think this change might be a good idea. A new player constantly being checkmated in the first 5 moves might not be the best first impression of the team mode variant. As a side note, I believe a queen moving this way is the same as a guard which @vickalan has written some stuff about here. Replacing the queen with a guard would do the same thing as limiting the movement of the queen. Thoughts on this idea? I think it could be worth considering, I see both benefits and downsides with it.
We should be able to visually suggest moves to teammates. For example: Right click a teammate piece then right click an empty square -> the squares become highlighted and/or with "marching ants". Advantages: 1) Convenient. 2) Fast. 3) Good for those who do not speak English. 4) Good for those who do not understand the chess coordinates system.

Please implement: When choosing to play with random opponent, after the game finishes, you could be presented with option to continue with your teammate to the next game. If both players choose to play together, they will play together in the next game. If you like this idea please write so below!
We managed to stalemate my king. We had to coordinate in order to do so. I prose this should end the game in a draw. The screenshots for those who are curious how that looks like in a 4 player game:

(I feel like I invent a bicycle in this topic, but just want this suggestions to be written on this forum and discussed anyway.) When we start a new Teams Mode game we should see a list of our friends (who is online now) and be able to invite them by clicking that list. (And in addition we should be able to invite any player like now by typing his/her name in a special field.) After a game (with invited or random partner) we should have a button "Play with the same teammate". If both the teammates click that button they should play together again. If any of them clicks the usual "Play" button he/she plays with a random teammate. I also think there may be some delay before the next match so both the teammates click the button, and/or some sort of a notification of the teammate's choice (like "your teammate wants to play with you again, you have 30 seconds to accept"). Maybe, just may be, it is a good idea for the teams to play 2 games in a row, but with different colors. The 1st game John+Jessica are red+yellow and play vs Ahmed+Amy (blue+green). At the very next game John+Jessica become blue+green and play vs Ahmed+Amy (red+yellow). Well, not yellow, golden.

I think we should have a leaderboard for team modes like we do in FFA.

I really don't understand why premium membership is needed to select a member in team 4 player chess. I mean if you look at bughouse there's no need for premium memberships to select your friend. My friend and I were really excited about team mode but because we don't have premium membership we can't play which is really disappointing.
So basically me and my teammate were practically dead. (he had only a pawn and i had a rook and 3 pawns) Anyways our opponents had 2 rooks 2 bishops 1 knight and tones of pawns. I ended up tricking one of them into leaving his rook and bishop for me and he moved the bishop out of the way and made his teammate into check! And it was my turn next and i took the king has a thank you note! Also how do i screenshot it so i can include that here for next time? Thanks for reading, ChampKing

Please let us know if you became a premium member expressely to be able to chose your partner in team mode, to let chess.com know the money 4chess is getting in, oso they become willing to pay battlemind to implement the improvements that we wish to see. I've been playing on chess.com for over 3 years and never bothered to get a subscription. But thanks to 4 chess team mode, I got a subcription!

Loving having the ability to select who you team with. Was continually frustrated with some random partners. Playing several games in a row with the same person and learning together was so much better an experience.

Hello 4-player-chess advocates, As you probably know already we have re-released teams and are enjoying watching the interesting new scenarios that arise from this game mode. Please use the space below to post your feelings and thoughts regarding the newest update. This is your opportunity to tell us exactly what you love and hate about this mode!

I'm a relatively-weak chess player; curious to see if my experience matches that of others. After many weeks of playing 4PC, I've felt an acute decline in 2PC performance. I attribute it to the following factors: 1) The 2PC board just feels more constrained/compact. It's hard to describe exactly how this translates into poor performance, but that each move has a feeling of tripping all over myself, blocking myself in, etc; and (to a fault) I'm inclined to "spread out" for the sake of spreading out (not for any tactical advantage). 2) 2PC is MUCH less forgiving than 4PC. In 4PC (at least, at the 1400-1600 level of play), blunders are frequently overlooked or ignored, as other players may have more important things to worry about than grabbing a hanging pawn/knight/etc. 3) In 4PC, I think tactics are de-emphasized. Because there will be 3 moves between each move you make, sharp tactical lines are inherently less likely to pay off and more likely to backfire. I've found better 4PC outcomes with "just-play-it-safe" compared to e.g. "try to lay a sneaky trap for blue" (that falls apart when green and red go "off-script"). This mentality seems to have bled into my 2PC games... where it amounts to a "sitting duck" strategy :-) In fact, anecdotally - I've even found the 2PC "tactics puzzles" to seem more challenging while playing 4PC.
