Season 01 of K.O (Knock Out) Elimination system https://www.chess.com/clubs/forum/view/k-o-system-tourney-90m-30s-open-registration-for-first-16-players-only has been running successfully and will be ended by Jul 31. Now I open registration for Season 02 (that will start on Aug 01) Format of tourney: K.O (Knock out) system. We need 8 or 16 players only. If there are 8 players only, I will only open 1 Section. If there are 18 players, then I will divide players into 2 Sections, based on Rating order (Upper Section & Lower Section) Players in Upper Section U1 (1st highest rating) U2 (2nd highest rating) U3 (3rd highest rating) U4 (4th highest rating) U5 (5th highest rating) U6 (6th highest rating) U7 (7th highest rating) U8 (8th highest rating) Players in Lower Section L1 ( 9th highest rating) L2 (10th highest rating) L3 (11st highest rating) L4 (12th highest rating) L5 (13th highest rating) L6 (14th highest rating) L7 (15th highest rating) L8 (16th highest rating) * Quarterfinal (Aug 01 - Sep 03) Upper Section The pairing (4 boards) U1 vs U5 U2 vs U6 U3 vs U7 U4 vs U8 Lower Section The pairing (4 boards) L1 vs L5 L2 vs L6 L3 vs L7 L4 vs U8 The 2 players will play 2 games (with either color). Time control: 90+30s (Rated) Players will negotiate to find the best day/time to play their 2 games. The time frame for finishing a round is 1 month (Aug 01 - Aug 31) * If the match result is 1-1 Tie, there will be no Tie-Break, then the winner of the Round is the Player with lower Rating (Rating we refer here is Rating when players registered). * If the 1st game has been won by the lower Rated player, then the match has been won by him and both players can agree to skip (not to play) the 2nd game, although it's advisable to play the 2nd game, as the purpose of the tourney is for practice as much games as possible. ------------------------------------------------------------------- * Semi-Final (Sep 04 - Oct 01) For each section The Pairing: (still 4 boards because all players (either winners and losers) from Quarter-Final will still be paired & playing. Winner of Quarter-final vs Winner of Quarter-finalLoser of Quarter-final vs Loser of Quarter-final * Final (Oct 02 - Oct 31) For each section The Pairing: (still 4 boards because all players (either winners and losers) from Semi-Final will still be paired & playing. Winner of Semi-final vs Winner of Semi-finalLoser of Semi-final vs Loser of Semi-final To register, please leave your name, and current Rapid Rating in comment section. - Before you register, pls consider time commitment you need for this tourney (to avoid unnecessary Forfeited game). - 90m+30s game can be finished as long as 3 until 4 hr (or even a little bit more) if both players used all their time. - Within 1 month span, you must find time play 2 games (no need to play 2 games in a row at same day), but you should better play in 2 different days. - When the tournament finished, you all will play Total 6 games within 3 months, because in this K.O system the loser from previous round will still be pair with another Loser player. As soon as there are 16 players registered, I will close the registration & post the Quarter-Final pairing. Thank you

Hello Invitation for 16 first players only, then I will rank player based on Rating when they registered. P1: 1st rank (highest rated) P2: 2nd rank P3: 3rd rank .. until P16: last rank The 16 players will be put into 4 Quad (each 4 players). Quad-A (P1, P2, P3, P4)Quad-B (P5, P6, P7, P8)Quad-C (P9, P10, P11, P12)Quad-D (P13, P14, P15, P16) This way we will have the most competitive with closer rating difference between players inside a Quad. The 4 players in a Quad will play in Double RR (Round Robin) system (2 players will play each other with both color). 6 total rounds. A player will play total 6 games. Time control: 90m+30s, Rated Time span for a round: 2 weeks. Schedule Round-1 (Jun 01 - Jun 15)Round-2 (Jun 16 - Jun 30)Round-3 (Jul 01 - Jul 15)Round-4 (Jul 15 - Jul 31)Round-5 (Aug 01 - Aug 15)Round-6 (Aug 16 - Aug 31) There is flexibility in these dates, since for a round robin tournament the results of a round do not affect the pairings in the following rounds. You can play the game not in the sequential order (eg. play Rd-3 opponent first, then Rd-1, Rd-2 etc). What matter is that you must play & finish your total 6 games before Aug 31. It does not matter if you will play & finished all the games within 2 or 3 weeks only let say, or play 2 games in a week, etc. Please register by leaving your name & current Rapid Rating in the comment section of this forum page. Once we have 16 players registered, we will close the registration & post the schedule & pairing for all rounds. Thanks for all your support to the club!

Hello everyone, I will open 2nd league soon. Anyone who's interesting in joining, please write in the comment section. I will decide the format later depend on number of participants. It could be just single Round robin, or double round robin. If the rating spread of participants are too large, I will also consider to divide into section for U1500 and A1500, or we could use Swiss system I will make it 2 weeks time span to finish a round, to make you easier to find good time. The pairing schedule will not be strictly binding - I mean if the 2 players can't find the good time to play in any particular round, they can delay it to another week/ so. or vice versa if some players would like to play any particular round earlier than the schedule, it is fine too. Note : in 90m+30s, you must be ready to allocate at least 4 hours of time, because assuming that if both of players use almost all his time plus 30s increment. Thanks . Have fun !-Chien
Hi everyone. I created this Team mainly or initially for practicing 90m+30s only and I will not change that. Recently a lot of members are asking me for the popular 45m+45s time control. For some who are not able to spend 3 - 4 hours time for 90+30, here I open invitation for 45m+45s. NOTE : I will open this 45.45 just occasionally, as our main will always be 90.30 All players from all rating category are invited, as it will be Swiss system with 5 rounds - time span for each round will be 2 weeks. For anyone who's interested, please write in comment section, then I will add you. Kind Regards,Chien
Hello Karpov1a, opto_007, Thalapathy_64 Ok we have 4 members. The club hopefully will be expanded with more members in near future. I prefer small but solid dedicated members though.Let's start our first tourney of 90m+30s. We will make it double round robin, each play each other with W & B. The time span for 1 round to be finished is 2 weeks. You and your opponent will negotiate the best time to play - you will post the agreed time in comment section, and also the result of game afterward along with game link. I make it 2 weeks time span to finish a round, to make you easier to find good time. Note : in 90m+30s, you must be ready to allocate at least 4 hours of time, because assuming that if both of players use almost all his time plus 30s increment. Another note : the pairing schedule below is not strictly binding - I mean if the 2 players can't find the good time to play in any particular round, they can delay it to another week/ so. or vice versa if some players would like to play any particular round earlier than the schedule , it is fine too. I expect all games will be finished by July 17th though. Please just write in comment section : Rd .... , .... vs ... is scheduled for ...... (date). Here is the pairing and schedule :
