This is for people to brag about their wins that don't have any significant meaning (i.e. swindles) or learning opportunities. This way, we don't have to deal with "omg look at this draw" threads and stuff where you play through the game, type "wow nice draw!" and unfollow the forum for the rest of your life situations. Now that I said all that, look at this draw!

As we grow bigger by the day, we have more and more members posting threads ... which is absolutely fantastic! However, some threads are more important than others, as while some threads may help 50 people, another thread may only help the thread poster due to it's specific and unique question. From now, those type of questions will be posted here, in this megathread. Teachers; check her periodically, or even turn on notifications for it so you can get pinged when someone asks a question - it can be a fun place to answer specific, unique questions! Students; know the difference between a question that deserves it's own thread, and one that doesn't. For example, a question that can be answered with a simple "yes" or "no" should be posted here. A question that may dive into theory, tactics, or deeper dialogue does not. For example; "Why did the engine recommend ng6?" would belong here, because the answer is likely to be brief and after it's initially answered, the thread will die. If the answer can end the thread, post the question here. A question like "Is trading a queen for two rooks good or bad" can have it's own thread, because the answer cannot be defined by one person, as one person may say good, while another may say bad. Basically, if the question leads to further discussion without a definitive answer, make a thread for it, as other people will benefit from it. Nobody really benefits from "yes" or "no" questions, and they may hide other useful, more helpful threads from being seen. Also, don't overthink it. We love the activity, as we pride ourselves as being the most active club on chess.com. So, when in doubt, make a thread for it and people will jump to help you. But, if you have a quick question that isn't too pressing and you just want a quick answer, post it here. thanks everybody! and here's to becoming the best chess players we can be!

Unloyal members is what kills an empire. They make holes in a disciplined force. They question leaders decisions, and make others lose faith. We need to start again from zero, and work our way up to the top, making this a CHESS ONLY club along the way. To get lots of members, we need to purge some members. I suggest that Viz make me an SA. Reasons: I am very active. I will enforce the rules I will REMAIN LOYAL to Viz I will not spam invites, BUT MAKE FRIENDSHIPS before telling them about B and M. I will make lots of educational content.

Hopefully Viznik will pin this thread, feel free to drop your games and I'll try to annotate to the best of my ability (obviously won't get much if your higher rated than me but more so for the beginners)

Dear Chess Friends! I’m sure most of you at least once considered changing the opening repertoire. For example, I’ve been playing French Defense with Black pieces since I was 11. At the age of 32 I decided to switch the opening. I feel better in more open, complicated & sharp positions. That’s why I chose Kan Sicilian and had a success there. This time I feel I need to extend my opening repertoire for Black to be more flexible and, of course, to take my opponents by surprise. That’s why I learned how to play Paulsen (Taimanov) Sicilian, which is quite similar to Kan Sicilian, but at the same time has its own ideas and lines which sometimes lead to even sharper positions that I usually meet in Kan Sicilian. I’m talking about this position: 1.e4 c5 2.Nf3 e6 3.d4 cxd4 4. Nxd4 Nc6 I also noticed that Paulsen Sicilian is played more often at GM’s level which only proves the competitiveness of this opening. Nepo, Ivanchuk, Caruana, Giri, Harikrishna and even Anand play this opening successfully. However, Paulsen/Taimanov Sicilian is still understudied opening and contains a lot of room for your own creativity. Most club players are usually unfamiliar with it and has no idea what exactly to play against this opening, and when they deviate, Black gets a chance to overtake the initiative and play for a win. Actually, Black may play for a win from the very beginning in this opening. I decided to share my expertise with you and demonstrate some of the lines of this complicated opening on my next 123rd webinar “Play for a Win with Paulsen/Taimanov Sicilian”. The webinar starts on Sunday (1st of May) at 10 a.m. (EDT), 2 p.m. (GMT), 5 p.m. (Moscow time). This webinar is free. Hi everyone, it's you know who It was brought to my attention that this club seemed to be dying, and I hadn't posted anything constructive here for two consecutive days, so I played a rapid game and now I will share it with you all I've also noticed lots of very beginner players, and generally beginners are confused as what to do, how to think, so I decided to annotate the opening a little bit more, show some ideas, reasoning, instead of just glossing over the opening with something like "so now we have a normal king's indian fianchetto variation" which would probably have the same effect on many people as someone speaking Arabic would have on me. Of course I still haven't held back on my annotations past the opening, so if you're a stronger player I'd assume you'll have a good read so yes danke

Remember that guy from a year ago? The one who got into the arguments? That was me. I want to apologize. I am getting back into chess and realized I only had one home. Here. I don't have much to say, but I have grown a lot in terms of personality and responsibility. So I am asking if you can take me back with open arms. I'm looking forward to learning and having fun. I gotta be honest, I teared up when I clicked this page again. Is 'ol ninjaswat still around? What's been happening?! Thanks, Pawntonic (New name)

Happy April Fools Day! April 1, 2025: “The ability to play chess is the sign of a gentlemen. The ability to play chess well is a sign of a wasted life.” -Paul Morphy, GM. (Do you think he stole this quote from his dad who shamed him into quitting chess?)
