Today I couldn't play for half an hour because of resigners. One them is welfare_parasite. Can developers create some function to automatically ban abusers? Like if they continuously resign 3-4 times in a row just ban them for a time?

I literally didn't even play my first move, then this guy just lost because of stalling. Has this happened to anyone else?
@jdcannon I think the way the draw works in bughouse might be incorrect... https://www.chess.com/live/game/3370730026 for example should this game be a draw? sure, the position on the board is repeated but I am taking pieces in the process so the pieces in hand change. I think the concept of "position" in bughouse should also include the pieces in hand. I know it's not a super important bug, but I think it's an easy one to fix and just wanted to let you know.

i can't be the only one who has noticed that all (or most) of these accounts are the same person: [Names removed - MOD] generally i wouldn't care but whoever runs all these accounts is such a brute. it's easy to see the problem here.

We love playing bughouse and enjoy our time. But still there are somethings that makes bughouse less pleasant. For me it's (and maybe for lots of you) that's resigners. Can you please disable resigning in the beginning of the game? Because like 30% of the games end with resigning. Some people explicitly abuse and resign in the beginning of the game. Rating trophies are given according rating difference so it's not scary at all. What are your suggestions? Thanks
Has anyone else noticed this? Just played a game and with only seconds left on the clock, when I tried to move the board reset itself. Tried refreshing the page and it seemed to be fixed - until I attempted the same move, then the same thing happened. Couldn't play and we lost on time. This has happened a few times now.

Hi everyone. I'm new here. I've looked though the forums for information, and see a few posts about Bughouse pairing. I'm not sure how it works. If I'm reading correctly: You cannot set a pairing range or threshold? You can team with another person, but, no other filtering options are available. Is this correct? Yesterday or the day before, I was going between games where I was first paired with someone who was 2000+, and the next game, I was paired with someone who was only 800 or 900. Not to be mean about this, but, that's pretty manic. I hesitate to call it "crazy" since this is bughouse, and crazyhouse is a different game. Besides manic, the other thought that crossed my mind is schizoid, or bi-polar. Night and day, the difference between high and low-rated players and pairings, one game to the next. And, I noticed the same again this evening. I'm around 1500. I had a few games with some 1800's, 1900's and 2000-rated players. My brain turns on, and I'm motivated to play better, or at least try to make a good impression and do well. And then all of the sudden, I get paired with someone who's only 900 and drops or hangs pieces at random. (I can't complain, I'm not much better as a team member with someone significantly better than myself, but I at least try if I'm not sac'ing to eliminate a threat or feed material to my team member.) A co-worker taught me bug (and now he left, so here I am). The one thing he hammered into me is "don't throw pieces around the board -- if you don't know what to do, look at what you need, look at the other board, look at what is possible." The other major difference I see is that highly rated players communicate and help out. Low-rated tend to either beg for material, or be silent-running. No communication, no attention to chat or use of the beggar's buttons. But this is nothing new. This was explained to me before I signed-up. The pairings, however -- I'm sorry, but it's manic, crazy, schizoid sometimes.

I've seen several reports of member say that if you grab a piece from the sidebar to drop on board, but then change your mind, and drag the piece off of the board that it will appear on one of the corner squares. I've played a ton of bughouse from my test accounts and so far I don't know how this happens. it never happens to me which is pretty annoying.  If anyone can tell me the exact steps to make it happen that would be amazing? For example, does it only happen if you drop a piece on nav? or only for queens?  If anyone can get this on video, I would be super happy!  Or if you can you check your console after it happens to you and see if there are any errors? that would be great!  Thanks, guys, Really want to get this fixed!
(@davidkaufmann since you were asking for bugs) I am not entirely sure this is a bug, but when playing/spectating I can only click on the players names on the "main board". Let me clarify: In the past it used to be possible to click on the players names even on partner board and to visualize this little toolbox (as in the pics); now it's not possible anymore and it is a bit annoying. It was useful to block/add friend/request chat etc.

We released some new code to beta late yesterday (10/3/18) that should help with lag.  To try the new code you need to have joined beta. You can go here to join: https://www.chess.com/settings/beta I would really like to hear how the experience is for lag with these updates.  Please note, you must be on beta, and it have played today as of 10/4/18.

There is simply no way to make correspondence bughouse work in the same way, with exactly the same strategies, as live bughouse. However, here are a couple ideas that could loosely mimic the feel of live bughouse in a correspondence setting. First idea: Enforced Move Order You have an enforced move order: W1, W2, B1, B2. White moves on the first board, then white moves on the second board. Then black moves on the first board, then black moves on the second board. Alternatively, you could do W1, W2, B2, B1, but I don't think there's any significant difference between them. However, sitting to wait for material is an important part of the game. An enforced move order eliminates this. So what we could do is add the ability to pass on your turn a limited number of times; every time you sit on your turn, it takes one of your remaining sits and gives it to your opponent. So if everyone gets two sits, if W1 sits once, he'll have one left, and B1 will have three. This could lead to the following sequence of moves: W1, W2 sits, B1, B2 is skipped, W1, W2, B1, B2. Second idea: Super-long Live Time Controls Instead of having 3 days per move, instead have three days total with a 12-hour (or 24-hour) increment. That way, sitting actually does eat time that may cost you later in the game, just like in live. Perhaps the total time should be capped so that you can never have more than 7 days left on the clock so that you can't sit for two months while waiting for your opponent to grab that knight. If anyone goes on vacation, either it could not apply to the bughouse game, or it would have to stop the clock and disable moves on both boards. Both options have their drawbacks. And there's a significant drawback to any form of correspondence bug that I don't think has a solution: the stronger player can simply tell his weaker partner what to do and will therefore be effectively self-simuling. This can theoretically be done in live too, but fast time controls make it difficult, and it will always result in lowering the quality of play. In correspondence, that is no longer the case. This last issue is the one that means that correspondence bug is never really going to take off and become particularly popular, as it effectively destroys it as a team game.
By now, we all know that chess.com bughouse isn't really cutting it. If you're like me, you have become so frustrated with the site that you've stopped playing here entirely. So, why wait for all of these bugs to be fixed, or worse, force yourself to endure through this hell, when you could just go to [please don't advertise other sites - MOD], and play bug without glaring flaws, and vastly more features?

Small bughouse theory. How to improve it? Make sure to improve your comments too! Also, if you want to bughouse partner me, please send a message

A few days ago premove stops working properly, pieces are getting dropped in the corner of the board and then not showing up, lag spikes like crazy, nothing is responsive. Really pulling for the other site to get its bughouse up. done here for a while

Okay, this is unacceptable. Chess.com has been completely haywire recently. First of all there's a weird bug where pieces randomly drop on a8 (I've lost many times because of this and so have my opponents and friends I've seen) But even worse is the unbelievable lag that has been happening. It's so bad to the point that even premoves are affected. Premoves usually take 0.1 seconds, but in the worst instance of this lag I've found, a premove took up to 2.1 SECONDS... (yeah I know the image doesn't really show much) This is unbelievable. Chess.com, what's going on?

A request for material tells your partner that they should consider altering their play in order to grant you an advantage. Trades in the beginning of the game do not actually grant you an advantage. There is a newbie belief that trades are always good because dropping pieces rather than using the ones you already have is fun. Just play your own game. Don't ask for stuff unless it's definitely going to give you an edge rather than just make it more fun for you. Spamming your partner for stuff off the bat reveals you to be a newbie who thinks it's all about your board rather than the team. Even worse is when "gimmie stuff" spam is accompanied by wanton sacrifices, further shafting your partner. My personal rule of thumb is to block anyone who does this (because chess.com has no mechanism to control who you play with other than block).

Not sure what to play after this. Opponents have a hard struggle and a tough game lies ahead. Thoughts? Greatly appreciated.
I've seen some amateurs (i am one myself) And quite a couple of professional players play 1.Nf3 2.Ng5 3.Nxf7. opening up your opponents king side, but some times the opponent gets mated quickly and sometimes they are able to defend the position. Any ideas about when to do this and if this really is a good doubles opening?

I consider this problem sometimes. Yesterday I was playing bughouse with this 1850 guy, and he resigned because we were low rated I am 1345 btw, and I went to the "watch" section, and I found him playing with other people around his rating. These days I think people resign just because they want to play with other players their rating. Usually, I am unlucky enough to play with people who don't even read the chat and just move when clearly you have a mate and then they get mated themselves. Players like row11 who read the chat or can flip a game actually have some potential. I wonder if anyone else has seen this before?
