Hello to all members of the Chess.com Feedback Club and especially to the Chess.com Staff.
First of all, let me introduce myself, since I signed up on Chess.com I quickly became known as the Admin of various Clubs and Leagues. I'm Admin of a National Team, “Team Italia”, and I represents Italy in Vote Chess World Championship, and I'm Co-Responsible of Daily in Team Italia. I'm also admin of League TCMAC, one of the biggest Daily Leagues on Chess.com and the largest ever in Italy. I'm also admin of a lot of small Clubs such as “Legio I Italica”, “Ripartiamo da Tre” and “Gli chessisti Italiani”, as well as of the "Rome" Club, which participates in the World Cities League. Lastly, I am also Admin in the "Friends Uniting Against Mental Illness" Club, where I take care of Vote Chess. In short, all this to say that I have some experience as an Admin, particularly in Vote Chess, in fact with my Clubs I participate in important Vote Chess Tournaments such as the Vote Chess World Cup (with Team Italia in division A) and the 1WL Vote Chess Championship 2024. And as a result I'm noticing several facts that make the experience with Vote Chess less beautiful and more difficult to manage for us Admins. I believe that Vote Chess is in fact one of the most beautiful and exciting game modes that Chess.com has created, in fact it develops interaction and team play skills. Despite this there are several aspects to improve.
First of all the fact that if a Chess.com member is Admin in two Clubs that have to compete with each other, to launch the challenge he must leave one of the two Clubs, and then re-enter once the challenge has been launched and be promoted Admin again. I think this is the biggest problem, the others are just suggestions that would improve the experience.
In my opinion, an addition that should be made to Vote Chess is to give the Admins and Super Admins (not the Coordinators) the possibility of eliminating the votes of some members who may have voted by mistake or intentionally for the wrong moves for the Team, thus influencing the game, today if a player votes for harmful moves we are forced to threaten him with silencing or expulsion, however with this addition the Admins will simply have to cancel the vote and ask the player to be more careful.
Another interesting addition would be to put a setting that allows Admins to set a time after which the Vote opens, let me explain better: if we are playing a 3-day/move Vote Chess game, in many clubs it is decided to allocate the first two days to discussion and the third to voting, the problem is that many players vote first without reading the discussion chat, thus voting for moves that are not always correct, if instead the Admins had a setting like the one I talked about , it would be enough to set that for the first 48 hours voting is closed and no one can vote.
One last very important problem is that of notifications, here's what I'm talking about: sometimes it happens that you have little time to watch a Vote Chess game and therefore members discard or delete the initial notification in which Chess.com warns that it's up to the our team to vote, but then they don't remember to open the vote chess game, thus not being able to vote or discuss, instead I recommend putting one notification per day, for example, there is the notification "it's up to you to play", then after 24 hours another notification could arrive "only 48 hours left" (clearly this if we are talking about a 3 day/move game) and so on...
These are some useful tips, in my opinion.
I hope to see them in practice soon and in any case I await feedback from the Chess.com staff.
