I have a new piece idea: the Queen's horse!!! It is a mix of the knight camel and the Queen, but can only move 4 spaces diagonally! It would give lots of new variant ideas and could be a full-on game changer!!! Another idea! Emporer! a king that moves twice as much going horizontally and three times as much diagonally and it can move like the Qaganzy horse!!!

But whites have a new army to save their king from blacks' dungeon.However chess.com engine limitations make this game intrigating. The goal is for the white king to reach e1 square and for blacks to not be checkmated. In an ideal engine, checkmated kings return to the dungeon. But all I can do in this engine is to set the rules to taboo, hence check is forbidden for both sides. An improovement would be to make the whites immune to checkmate (until at least the king reach some advanced row) and may be separating the goals so that only whites can capture the flag. The practical solution I'm wondering: Is there a way for an unroyal piece to capture the flag? (So it can't be checked in the process)The problem with taboo is that makes kings too powerful, and without taboo that it spawns a war for the B3 and C4 squares and makes that the whole purpose.

I want to try to make some games that has board sizes like 5x5, 7x7 or 9x9 but the pawns, whatever number I select to be pawns home rank, for example, I covered up 2 edges of a 10x10 with transparent bricks to make a 9x9, but when I set the pawn's home rank to 2, the white pawns can move forward 2 squares, but black pawns don't. And when I changed it to 3, now both side's pawns can move forward 2 squares, but when a white pawn advances 1 square on it's first move, on the second move it can ALSO move 2 squares! And for the promotion ranks, I set it to be 9, then the white pawns do promote at the end rank but black promotes 1 rank early! How can I make these odd sized boards?

Probably a terrible idea as my previous one gained a LOT of backlash, but here goes: In this chess variant, pawns promote to generals, which move like a king and knight on the 13th row. Kings can move into check as game design to avoid stalemate. Camels which move in 3-1 L shapes are added for more variety. Resigned pieces still move and winner is still determined by points. The kings are all royal/neither Royal at the same time,when you lose all the kings wins and all the kings can reach the hill but not move in check themselves.However,you can do nothing when a king is under check.

Chess++(ChessPlusPlus) is an Elegant extension of standard chess, If given proper attention, Love and support can take over the world. In this variant, the board would be set up normally. However, it randomly selects a piece that needs to be checkmated in order to win the game. Only you know which piece is the royal one.

pawns and kings are swapped.also to win you have to capture the bishop. also knight move randomly. and the pawn can move anywhere and cannot check or checkmate. also on move 50 the Amazon captures every piece. and the game is over.

Just an idea. Here are the rules: 1. every turn, you spin a spinner. whatever piece it lands on, you move. 2. on the first turn, you can play any move. then the spinner takes effect. 3. if a pawn gets to the other side of the board, it must be promoted to a king. Please post other pieces for this variant idea!

Hi guys,Today I'm here to give you all some interesting facts about the (infamous) pocket chess challenge. This is a user created challenge created in January that till date has over 50 submissions.Dlsclaimer: This may or may not be a shameless self promotionAnyways, let's start off with... 1.Pocket Chess- The BeginningThis link should give you some idea on what it is, but don't worry, I'll explain it here anyways. The Pocket Chess Challenge was started on January 1st by me (@vishthefish771) and @imchesspro0930. Actually, the original intention of the challenge was just to group his 3 newest variants in a series, which we called Pocket Chess, as in chess that fits in your pocket (btw, the name was his idea).  The rules of the challenge are simple enough.1.It has to be on a 6x6 board2.It must use 4pc themes I will also admit that a lot of success of the challenge came about because the rules are relatively simple and are a great starting point for creating variants if you're low on ideas (at least, that's how it's felt for me) 2.Pocket Chess- The Rip (Offs)So, now we travel forward by around 3 weeks in time... Also known as what I like to call, The Golden Age of Pocket Chess! Around this time, the challenge had received a boom in submissions. It was quickly becoming evident that The Pocket Chess Challenge was a success story. I told you it's gonna be shameless Until... THE RIP-OFFS!!! I think we all know what I'm talking about. I'm talking about forums like this one, this one, this one and even this one. See, I'm not like targeting anyone. As a matter of fact, these challenges are quite creative. But I'll be honest, if I see another rip-off challenge... well, this meme sums it up pretty well. 3.Pocket Chess- The RiseWith all these submissions pouring in, it was pretty much guranteed that more Beehives were to follow. Soon after, @imchesspro0930 (yes him again) created his first ever submission on a pocket chess board, making it the second ever accepted Pocket Chess Submissions! Soon to come were the Forsaken City, Broker, Doubles, Obsidian Pinnacle and all the rest. Till date, we have a total of 8 accepted Pocket Chess variants, which gives you around a 15% chance of getting an acception whiloe submitting one. (Interesting Fact: Recently on notes someone mentioned that the current acceptance rate of variants is 10%, so you technically have a higher chance of acception if you submit a pocket chess. However, because more submissions aren't pocket chess, it's probably best to take this with a grain of salt.) And there we go, folks!
