If anyone fancies a pop at team 54, please join the match - their team is ready and we dont seem to have many players - unless this is our strategy!
Just to welcome Peter(another chance to brag really) my game against one of his recent opponents. Maybe he'll show us his. www.chess.com/groups/forumview/tuesday-nights-game?page=2
Well some bright spark decided we should play online as a team, so might as well make the best of it. We seem to have a lot of ungraded players, I was one once, but found after a couple of games I had a grade. Paul has started playing and I think those who are worried should follow his progress. Nothing like pressure Paul!- you know you love it. Maybe John can fill them vacant places then.

I took my daughter to the BRI today to have her eyes checked. With so little activity, posting games etc, I told her I was going to the orthopedic department to check on 'mouse' finger. "What's that?" "It's what you get, when you don't have a mobile phone." Suprising the places that have computers, but no chess sets.
In the Todmorden v Brighouse match, YOBS scored W2 D1 L0.
I see John got his revenge and hopefully we will go on to win the match. Do we have a match captain? Any volunteers?
It would seem this group is expanding. I f so, will those joining be a) providing information to newcomers or b) newcomers looking for information? Whatever the answer, the quest is more chess players.
I notice that our two newest YOBS are from different Ridings. Peter is lucky enough to live within the Sheffield domain(if he is looking for a club hope he chooses Barnsley). But what of poor Mick, I searched Ripon on this site-nothing! A couple of months back I surfed the website(I think that's the term, my daughter is doing my washing again!) and could find very little information for the North Riding & don't think anybody is giving the YCA much information either. Chess.com is in effect front-line. Google, Yahoo, Firefox or whatever else there is;"chess" and see what is top of the page, I know what comes up on this machine and it ain't Bradford or Yorkshire(and it isn't because it doesn't know the alphabet). If we can get players over the board from this site I'm sure they will soon log on to; http://yorkshirechess.org/forum/chess-in-yorkshire/
Finally I let someone give me a mobile phone- Disaster!!! I got this text message: 4ncl+usrwestlpyng4yngshfldbys2ply4bfdmstbmd My daughter translated this for me, we are not speaking now. Can someone help, I am innocent. For Santa Claus, are we still paying for young Sheffield boys?To play for Bradford must be mad!
Has anyone read the suggestions regarding a Yorkshire Champions League? yorkshirechess.org/forums/topic/yorkshire-champions-league/ I've looked at LOCAL-clubs and the Sheffield League is massive, when was it set up, if it has always been so big, what did players do when public transport was the order of the day? Surely whoever wins the Sheffield title will win the new competition ad infinitum. To give them a bit of competition, how's this for a suggestion. A West Riding League made up of teams playing at home in Bradford, Halifax, Huddersfield & Leeds (within a certain radius of each town centre, or close to a motorway, any thoughts) The idea would not be to represent your usual team/town, but to put together strong teams to win the league and thus challenge Sheffield.
Further to my M62 suggestion here is a link to chessnuts. www.chessnuts.org.uk/ny5/league.php?sectionid=812 The first fixture was played on 16/5/11, the last 26/9/11. The distance between the venues, I would estimate, at being upto 30 miles. Those I have suggested for M62, I should think around 20. Though I don't suggest the same calender as Sheffield, I feel a League of 8 teams could be accommodated quite safely in the lighter months.
If you check out the LOCAL-Clubs, Yorkshire now extends to page 4(for me anyway).A lot of these have their own(or Association's) website link. Those who wish to check out these sites are invited to vote on the best one each month.
A while back I had an idea to use chess, com to expand chess in Yorkshire. If you gargle or whatever; chess, more than likely chess.com will be top of the page. My reasoning was that newcomers would mouse(that's not obscene is it?) all over the website and so if from Yorkshire would find on LOCAL-clubs- ???? Anyway I posted information, true or false? who cares? It looked like chess in Yorkshire was popular( compared to the rest of the planet). I feel now we must a) be maintaining or increase this level of information. b) try to ensure it is correct. To this end I have made many requests for others connected with clubs to take over entries-no replies. I would therefore appreciate any help at all from any YOBS to take responsibility for clubs on LOCAL until anyone from them clubs takes on the task themselves.
and here is said draw. Maybe Nick will post the same game and fulfill Dennis's wish to have a YOBS game posted by both opponents.
looking forward to the Christmas break. Merry Christmas and a happy new year to all.......

Sorry to announce no Brighouse games this week. Paul and I didn't play. So unless Mathew posts(I think that would be a Hebden Bridge game) it is deprivation until the New Year.
I have just seen the minutes of last week's meeting at the Latvian club. For many years I have considered myself an Irish decendant waiting to go home, after reading those minutes I am proud to call myself a Yorkshireman!
Unfortuntely I had to default my first match as I kept letting my opponent down! However, my son Kyle played a good game against quite a difficult opponent
Every time I look at the television I am being offered odds on some event happening. Must be watching too much sport, though my mother has commented on the same problem. I think she has St Vitus Remote. But maybe my luck could be in if I backed initials, UK to leave EU, YCA to leave ECF. Don't like doubles, any other suggestios?
