...well at least "erik" was kind enough to respond, and provide some details...for one he was kicked off by chess.com, and secondly it had to be something serious enough to consider him "unwelcomed".

...I don't think chess.com kicks someone off for minor infractions...

i agree.  it is unfortunate though, i like tony.  i also think that he had some legitmate gripes.  but i certainly don't have all the details so i won't speculate on the justificaiton for the ban.

it would be nice if an olive branch could be extended and they could work something out.

trysts

Moderators pissed him off. That was pretty obviousLaughing

erik

i liked tony too. but when you invite someone into your home (or to your website), and then ask them to behave with a certain set of rules, and they don't, and are in fact rude and flippant in their response, you ask them to leave. and it'd take a sincere change of attitude to let him back in.

What exactly did he do?/Are you at liberty to disclose the details?

erik

he was rude, abusive, and then unresponsive and flippant in the face of several warnings.

Well that just sucks.

bigpoison

Sounds like Tony, all right.

sorry, i hope you did not think i was trying to point fingers or say you/chess.com did anything wrong.  nor that you/chess.com were souly responible for any olive branch activity.  perhaps i was unclear.

OK, getting back to pomegranates...it's like your waitress said to you, "Sure, I could offer you a slice of cake or piece of pie for dessert...but how about a small primate's misshapen skull filled with seeds?"

They said: "Please come back tonydal!
Most of us thought you were swell!
Not rude or abusive
(or like ozzy, reclusive)
Plus nobody rhymes quite as well."

Yes it is just coincedince Mr. tews! (that is very good though).

Actually if I read right it is TONYDAL FINC, and that is good because he is very bad man!  And I should know because sometimes now he is me.  And he get online and say stupid things and he change all my settings!  I say to my doctor, oh no now I am crazy!  And he say no Andy, you are not crazy, just split person.  He say it is because you used to be so rude that your head explode and now you are this good person while tonydal he is the devil.  And you will alterate for a while until you get balance again.  So that make me feel better, I mean that someday I will get well, even though now I have to buy more food because I am 2 peeple.

So while I wait I write peom for this bad man.

tonydal he is always a pain

and gives everybody a strain

if you think he's bad

you should really be glad

because he does not live in your brain

AndyClifton

No but he is only good when it is his turn to be me.  Without him I am just begginer.

Did they boot Cobblepot along with Tonydal?  I haven't seen hide nor hair of him in quite some time.  Perhaps, though, the sophomoric nature of the forums have finally driven him off?

Wonder if Reb's gettin' nervous?

No I'm still here.

Aren't we all just beginners? Compared to someone else we are all just pawns on a board... lol

Tonydal not welcome? For pawning few noobs who have no idea what they are talking about?

please don't assume that we close accounts lightly. it takes a LOT to close an account, especially one of a titled player. there is no joy in it, and no benefit unless their actions were extremely negative and outweighed the good.

I was actually logged in to live chess at the exact moment when NM TheChessGym's account was closed. I saw firsthand exactly what is the equivalent of "the last straw".

planeden

NM TheChessGym?  is that tonydal?

ozzie_c_cobblepot

No, it's another person. Profile is still there, just don't click on "My Complete Profile", it'll tell you that it's closed.

planeden

thanks.

Oh crap, what is that Clifton idiot up to now?  Or I guess maybe I should spell it Klifton, so that way I'll truly be a FINK.

I mean, here I am waking up from the thorazine (or whatever Doc Himmler has me on now) to find my (f)alter ego scribbling more of his little ditties on the wall.  Looks like he thinks I'm ruining his life one more time...

when what to my wondering eyes should appear

but that idiot Clifton cowering in fear

Anyway, I recall two episodes with the management here.  The first of those I was under the impression that I had apologized for already (but perhaps not).

As for the Kohai Chiding Incident...well, I suppose I should have taken her charges a bit more seriously, but (frankly) I thought they were rather silly.  As indeed I still do.  You may not believe this, but the fact is that my intentions were exactly the opposite of those being imputed to me.  I was merely attempting to joke around with the OP and was not intending to belittle him at all; furthermore, it seemed obvious (to me at least) that he understood this and felt the same way.  I don't particularly want to turn my posting of Dino the Dinosaur into Exhibit A in some imaginary (and ridiculous) courtroom; suffice it to say that the "staph" are not the only ones around here who can become offended, and I was definitely beginning to feel a bit picked on by that point.

I also noticed that my suggestion to revoke my free membership (since a great deal was being made of that privilege) was ignored.  No, instead what I found was that when I attempted to log in, my password was unrecognized; and when I attempted to have my password sent to me, I found that my email address was no longer on file.

All of which was (perhaps) rather amusing to the folks at the home office.  Still, I have to wonder how long one can go on riding the moral high-horse when one evidently feels the need to engage in such tactics.

One more thing:  I have to question whether a global website really is very much like one's home.  After all, even Aaron Spelling would have a tough time accommodating 3 million people! (even if most of them don't hang out for very long).  And what if somebody belches after the meal because that constitutes a compliment where they are from, only to be met with an icy reception from others unfamiliar with that custom? (and that is just to name one difference that I am aware of; surely there are a million others).  It seems to me that you run the risk of coming off a bit provincial (and perhaps even narrow-minded) if you cling to that as your paradigm.

But no matter.  It turns out this has been a lot more fun anyway.  I mean, why settle just for being a jerk when I can be a schizophrenic nut? Smile

Okay, so does all of this make me the Wickedest Man on Chess.com now?  Pretty scary stuff, huh guys? ("Yes, Jeeves?"  "There's a Mr. Aleister Crowley here to see you, sir.  Says he's been a big fan of yours for years...")

Anyway, the next time I feel one of my Gary Busey moods (fits?) coming on, I'll just head over to Yahoo Answers, where they only dock transgressors a few points (you don't get banished from the kingdom).

Like I've always said:  you've got to keep your sense of humor.  I mean, lest you end up like our mirthless old friend from Honolulu, who stands firm in his unshakable belief that joking around is no laughing matter.  After all, the chess world has--and this is I believe a most lamentable shortcoming--never been known for its overabundance of wit.

Oh yeah, and thanks to kco for bringing this matter up....just can't say enough good things about you Austrians! Smile
