I still have v2 too, Rey.

I am glad we have it still.

Now, we can cherry pick a bii to use the V3 that they have got right, even if it takes getting used to.

V3 means you have to have a peep with the pointer to see the hidden message beneath.

A bit like fishing, which is good, but requires too much patience and time to find out, whereas before it was self-evident.

But, get rid of scrolling, and allow proper pagination.

Chess.com should not be a roll, but pieces of tissue.

Look, 5000 posts in this thread!

It was already 10000 about six months ago

Well, V3 should not be blamed for that, in all fairness.

Response times, at least for me, have become slower that I nave exer experienced. Has the fix caused it as a side-effect?

Hard to connect the two, so probably a coincidence.

May just be that while there were less games, there were less people on line, so the queues were shorter.

I am still running v2. And it works great!

  I'm still using V2, too.

  Smile  Ha! Take that, erik.

Had not played live in a bit. Having been playing at another site, I needed a refresher here to try again v3.

I am quite insulted. 1/4 of the live game screen was a flashing add banner. Don't recall previously in v2 if adds were this offensive during games. Come on staff there at chess.com. This will never work having flashing adds that take up a quarter of the screen during a game ??? It's blatantly rude, exhibiting zero respect.

Ding, ding, ding!  We have a winner!  Collect the tickets for your prize on the way out.

--prize is rhetorical.  No actual prize.

v3 stinks. Everyone knows it stinks. I started saying something as a joke, but it is starting to look like a good solution. Repair v2, call it v4, and release it.

WBFISHER

Yes, V3 cannot go away fast enough.

Those other chess sites must be quite pleased to see V2 eventually fade away...They had no way of competing for memberships with the popularity of that old site has become...Now they have a chance with V3's awful design and lack of simplicity implementations...I ejoyed the close to 3000 games I played on V2 and like most I will be leaving as well once V3 becomes the 11th commandment...

you're a nice guy Frank, it's crappy what they have done here; the owner must already be a millionaire and not give a shit, shame. it is a mess but i'm kind of thinking of moving on, just like i know you are, so good luck if you do

Its trying to be flat design but not quite getting there.  Look at the minimalistic clean and crisp social media icons, thats flat design.

Wow Charlotte, me and you and Pam were gonna be the last ones to ride the v2 train. We were gonna stay till they turned out the lights....

Been forced to use the V3 App on Android for 3 days now.

Took me 2 days to figure out how to work the options to turn off the uber-annoying chess engine running in the background when playing in a supposed Human vs. Human setting.  It runs an engine by default---showing move options for the top 3 moves, and highlighting potential moves and hanging pieces.  There is SOOOO MUCH going on on the board, its impossible to focus on chess for chess's sake.

For a site that attempts to show it cares about engine users, its rather amazing that it defaults the engine to ON in the App for chess.com.  Now I know why I and others have felt the number of engine users has increased recently. . . . their own APP has it ON by default.  Say they figure out how to turn off the engine (Analysis Mode), great, they can keep (Show Threats) (Show Blunders) and possibly (Show Best Moves) ON.  Anyone can keep that app on Human v. Human mode and get significant advice while playing a Live game via some browser.

Imagine a chess tournament of any kind where you have someone looking over your opponent's shoulder telling him/her that his/her knight is hanging in a given position.  Whispering what the best optimal moves are on a given turn.

I really wish I could take a screen shot of this and how annoying it is to anyone who just wants to play chess.  I'm really missing the simple Classis Chess.com app now.

The word "disappointing" doesn't even begin to describe how I feel about the V3 app..

You guys totally screwed the whole thing you had going with v2.

That in a nutshell, explain much, very much of my experience for the last six months or so.  So beyond verboten is this in anything that is supposed to be a competitive endeavour that I'm speechless.

Couple that with the terrible routing to the servers here from Canada...well, lose on time, lose to cheaters [sorry, not cheaters exactly, but good decent people that don't know any better but are going to get a massive surprise when they try and compete against anyone that KNOWS ANYTHING], it's all the same at the new and improved Chess.com.

Hallelujah.  All hail the genius Erik.  Now, excuse me while I vomit...

frankooo

Thanks Charlotte....I met some nice friends as well including you on the V2 train as Dude 80 would call it...Once that train derails for good I will roll on and pursue another venue...V3 just does not peak my interest playing chess online...

Member connections and equipment inadequacies don't justify criticisms of V3 when users ,  like me , don't appear to have problems that warrant any negative comment or indeed , reiterative positive opinion , in this forum .  Why would they when they use the site without complaint ?                     After my equipment upgrade and addressing other limiting interactions previously listed here by me  , I have no problems accessing all features of the site and my dual-processor certainly addresses desired  rapid response times .                                                                                    Whatever further improvements are forthcoming on V3 , I'm sure that those that happily use this site will not have any reason to visit this forum.
