Welcome to Masters of the Squares!

Here, every contribution you make is perceived with gratitude and competing on a regular basis has lots of rewards and benefits.

There is no pressure to compete if you are one of us. We just want to make this a space for everyone to share ideas, learn, grow, and enjoy chess. We’re a club built on the fundamentals of total support, zero pressure. Winning is great, but improvement and enjoyment are our true markers of success.

In just over 7 months, Masters of the Squares has become one of the strongest clubs in the intermediate and advanced rating ranges. 

Every 2 months, we share personalized performance reviews for all players and celebrate standout contributors in our Hall of Fame. We host a wide variety of matches and events throughout the week:

• Open-rated and rating-based daily matches

• Thematic and 960 daily formats

• Even distribution of 1, 2, and 3-day/move games (we avoid slower time controls)

• Participation in major league formats like ONE WORLD League, TCMAC, PCL

There’s always something happening, and you can play as much, or as little as you like.

Minimum Requirements to be part of Masters of the Squares:

• Rating: Minimum 1000+ in at least one format

• Timeout ratio: Below 10%

• Account age: At least 3 months old

• No signs of cheating or fair-play violations.

Good-to-Have criteria (preferred but not mandatory to join):

• 1200+ in any two formats.

• Timeout ratio under 5%

• No history of early resignations

• Reasonably active on Chess.com
