How to play the Sicilian Dragon Variation

Hello there! In this post, I am going to talk about the Sicilian Dragon Variation. The Dragon is a opening that I am very fond of, and a one that I play very often. I hope you enjoy!

The Sicilian Dragon is a variation that starts with the popular move 1. e4 2. c5

This is the original Sicilian. The Dragon is played with 3. nf3 4. d6

Then white plays 5. d4 6. cxd4 7. nf6 8. nc3

The Dragon then officially comes into play with 9. g6, with hopes to play bg7 and 0-0

Black is then planning to play e5, and then nc6, also hoping that the bishop will come out.

In this position, your pieces are developed and you are preparing for attacking.

I hope that you enjoyed this blog, and learned something new! Thank you for reading!
