[Puzzle Road] Checkmate like Tal! (P18)

Welcome to Puzzle Road!

Today’s last day before my OTB tournament of this weekend was successful for me on chess.com in my blitz games! I played a game, had less than 1 minute. My opponent had 2 times more time than me! But he decided to play Queen x b2 (???) and lost with a beautiful checkmate in 3 moves!

This is now the position! As topic, I wrote “Elimination of the defense”, because the only piece that protects the castle of the black king is the queen, and it’s some advice for the first move, if Black wants to stop the checkmate, he needs to give the queen!

18/ Checkmate like Tal! (Topic: elimination of the defense)

In this position, the castle of the king is open, and our rook does attack on one side the Knight, defended only by the king and on the other side, the g-pawn, which is defended only by the f-pawn (!)

First move: Bishop e5!

Exactly! The only defense is the queen, which means we only need to attack her to checkmate much more easily the black king! I’m happy of having found this move immediately personally!
Now, if Black moves the queen, there’s a checkmate in 2 moves! My opponent should have taken the bishop with his king… but would have still lost (!!)

Second move: Rook x g6 (!!)

And now a brilliant sacrifice! The Bishop controls the squares, where the black king could go… only possible move for Black is to take the rook and to liberate with this move the f7-square: but this one will be taken with the queen at the next move!

Third move: Queen x g6# (!!)

Alright, checkmate and win the game!

Tomorrow, I have my OTB tournament. This means, I cannot post any puzzle on this day… we will make a little break of 2 days, friends, sorry!
P. S: maybe, I still find a minute to be online… but I’m really not sure of that!
