As most of the chess players and enthusiasts, I am getting amazed by analysing the games of Capablanca. The main reason is exactly just like you thought. He plays predictable and simple-looking moves but they are so powerful and directly carry the game into Capablanca's waters. Everybody knows what would he play in particular position but almost none of them can prevent his plans.
The game I want to share with you is ninth of their exhibition match played in 1901 in Havana. Capablanca was 12 years old and Juan Corzo was already the champion of Cuba. As for the game, I am not discussing the opening phase which is not familiar for me, rather the crucial part starts after move 20. The players reached an endgame after quick exchanges. We can observe Bishop versus Knight challenge, the importance of King activity, pawn play and the principle of two weaknesses in this special game.
I hope you enjoyed this great game. I am trying to improve my endgame play. If you have suggestions on how to achieve this. feel free to comment below.
Thank you,
Cagdas.
