Hello Dear Chess Lovers,

First of all, Happy New Year for everyone! I hope you are all healthy, peaceful and happy. I have begun the new year with the new hopes. Classically thinking, I want to put some objectives in order to develop my chess understanding. Chess is a hard challenge for ambitious players. So it will be vital for me to create a chess training schedule and establish an enduring pace no matter what the outer conditions would be. To achieve this I have decdided to divide my chess training into five sections:

  • Tactical Study (Pattern Recognition and Calculation Techniques) (30%)

I will start to utilize the Woodpecker Method into my tactical studies. Briefly this method is based on cyclical reviews on same set of chess problems. It is crucial to halven the solving time after each cycle.

  • Endgame Study (Theory and Practice) (25%)

I will study Dvoretsky's Endgame Manual for learning the theory and How to Play Chess Endgames by Karsten Muller for practical applications.

  • Middlegame and Strategy Study (ways for taking decisions in any position) (20%)

I will start studying Yusupov's Series with a real chess board and pieces.

  • Opening Repertoire (creating a universal repertoire for both colors) (10%)

I will try my lines in Blitz Games and fix the mistakes especially in opening lines.

  • Master's Games  (enhancing the chess knowledge analysing games in chess history and learn how GMs think and play) (15%)

I am planning to analyze Alekhine's Games regularly.

This is my own unique plan. You can also adjust your own chess training schedule. I hope to keep my motivation and stick to it.

Regards,

Cagdas.
