First of all don't listen to the title, is just a joke, we can't let radon be #1 so easily! The point of this post is complaining about the lag, but to not make it so boring i will touch another subjects like rating system, starting positions and at the end i will analyze a little bit game 8 of the FFA/Solo w4pcc 2022. https://www.chess.com/variants/4-player-chess/game/28684822/271/1 At the beginning Justin flags, not due to the server this time, but he always does. Later i get disconnected and it turns out that im not the only one, what a surprise! 3 players disconnecting at the same time, and the only reason because yellow won it was because it wasn't his turn. I love the game and i think i spent more time in 4pc than in regular chess since i started playing in 2020. Is really heartbreaking to not find high rated queues in FFA, im forced to play with players with a rating difference of 700+ points, and thanks to the horrendous solo scoring system i cant play what i want, i have to be overcautiously and boring because these players can suicide or do something dumb anytime. Like i said the only reason because im not quitting 4pc is because i enjoy it, most of the times. But in the very rare case that lichess adds 4pc, you know where to find me. About the setups i find relatively obvious the public opinion and I agree, omatamix is boring, bring back the old setup (which is amazingly hided right now) The w4pcc was won by Icystun in 8 games, it was a cool match in general but not the most exciting one in terms of quality play. Still game #3 was extremely chaotic and fun, that may deserve a single post for himself if i am bored enough. Game #8 contains a lot of cuestionable decisions and savage moves Scores: jbolea 2, icystun 2, vrdtmr 2, rojitto 1. First to 2.25 wins Game starts quietly with a queen trade between yellow and green, and i decide to play Nm9 which is not the best move but i was playing in a similar way during the semis and finals. The main point was of course showing the other players that im green a) Red to play. b) Green to play. Here i made one of the worst moves i ever played. Qxe8?? allowing Qe7 yellow promotes and my queen is gone. This is very simple, in these kind of endgames the king and queen need to remain very close. I had a clear advantage moves ago, after making some bad moves i felt pretty useless and i took the pawn so careless. After taking if i manage to play Qk7 blocking the yellow pawn the game is very close to winning, i didnt miss the secuence that happened in the game but i thought it wasnt too bad due to my point lead. I totally forgot about the triple checks, giving yellow really good chances to catch up on points. Red got stalemated later, very good for me because i dont have a queen to steal some checkmate, and the triple check option disappears. c) Yellow to move and win. I was very mad at blue for not forcing a draw when yellow gave up the checks, still i shouldn't put myself in this situation, where my only chance to win is by stalemate. I realized after the game, after yellow got me on points, i volunteerely could offer double checks to blue so he passes yellow, Icy is the player with the most chances of stalemating me due to move order, an also because he is the best player he will find the idea to not give the game to blue and force a 9th game. I hope the post was enjoyable, i could do it in spanish but y'all too lazy.

It seems it fell out of favor, or maybe not enough people are playing it anymore, but I remember we had the hyperfiesta tournaments that really made it fun to play chaturaji. The purpose of this topic is to ask where it is now, and if it can be brought back.

I've just played a game where I was proposed to claim whereas I had 71 pts and the remaining player 59. Normally with a gap under 20 pts you can't claim! (He only had his king remaining, but clearly I still could lose theoretically as it was a no-increment game so I could flag for instance). Surprising. Did something change recently?

(Updated 29/07/22) Hello, This may be useless information for the majority of players, but I thought it was interesting, and I've been in the position in the past where I wanted to improve my rating in one particular category, but wanted to find a certain type of time control (no increment, shortest initial time, longest delay, etc.) which fit into that rating category. To solve this dilemma, I did some extensive backward-engineering, analysing the full range of available time controls, and found the formulae used to determine Hyperbullet, Bullet, Blitz, or Rapid. x: Initial Clock Time [sec.] - 60 for 1 min., 120 for 2 min., etc. y: Added Time [sec.] - Increment or Delay, 0 for none. Increment Games:x÷60+y>7.5 : Rapid x÷60+y≤7.5 : Blitz x÷60+y≤3 : Bullet x÷60+y<0.5 : Hyperbullet Delay Games: x÷40+y>11.5 : Rapid x÷40+y≤11.5 : Blitz x÷40+y≤4.5 : Bullet x÷40+y≤1.375 : Hyperbullet Example: 1|3 Initial Clock: 1 minute ( x=60 ). Added Time: 3 seconds ( y=3 ). x÷60+y=4, which is less than 7.5 (but not less than 3) , so 1|3 is a Blitz control. Example: ½|4D Initial Clock: 30 seconds ( x=30 ). Added Time: 4 seconds ( y=4 ). x÷40+y=4.75, which is less than 11.5 (but not less than 4.5), so ½|4D is a Blitz control.

There is a forum on chess.com called what is the longest notation? and thought of doing it here in this club since 4pc has different notation. This is what I think is the longest notation: When you take the blue sergeant the notation αxὂh7=K+++### is a whopping 13 characters long!! the axoh7 is because there are 2 other pieces the sergeant can take so it makes it specifically tells the sergeant captures on h7. the = K is of course because of promotion to King and the +++### come from after promoting to the king, you check all the other royal pieces and at the same time mate them because it is koth. By the way if you wonder how none of pieces are not in check, well i just put ctk so there are no checks. If you know a notation with 14 or more characters put it here. I do think this is the longest one possible. Try out this position for proof of the notation!
