In v3 Live, when I start a game, my clock starts automatically. See the time stamps in a game below: My opponent using v2 does not lose time during their first move (unless they take a long time, then it starts counting down after a couple of seconds). I have lost at least half a dozen games because of this, and I am wondering why using v3 is giving players a disadvantage because of this (especially in bullet)?

Hey all, I can't seem to figure out how to disable chat. I came across an issue the other day when I wanted to disable the chat, but couldn't find it on the tool bar. Note, I am talking about the game chat and not the group chat.

The title says it all - record clock times in live chess after each move.  I'm suggesting this as a feature for V3.   Example (from the recent Anand-Carlsen Norway Chess R4): There, the move times are shown for each move, but the clock times could also be shown.   Recording of clock times is a standard "good practice" when playing a real OTB game.  There are many benefits to recording clock times.  For example, it helps players identify when and where they are getting into time trouble, and whether they can improve their time management.     This doesn't have to muck up the way current games are stored.  A new SQL table  "GameClockTimes" or similar, with the proper relational database mappings, could add the desired functionality while easily maintaining backwards compatibility.   Forgive me if this has already been suggested, I didn't see it anywhere.
I personally DO NOT like the look of V3. It's too dark and clumsy for my liking. When I first came to chess.com, I immediately found that the website was easy-to use, a nice bright layout, and enough enjoyable features to make this the best site on the internet. V3, although it comes with some new features, makes me struggle.

I am stuck in V3 on my tablet and can't switch back (without deleting the cookies in the browser. There is no link like the one to return to the old version I can see in Windows. (The tablet is an Amazon Kindle Fire HDX, which is fundamentally an Android tablet).
I started a topic so the developers can know what is an issue.
Reported via snap but thought I'd open a forum too to further explain the sequence of events. If I navigate to the v3 forum first, and then switch to v3, it gives a missing page.  The URL is showing groups instead of clubs.  The home icon is missing from the left nav bar.  Changing the browser's URL to clubs does not alleviate the missing page.  I work around the problem by clicking on daily on the left nav, which gives back a home icon.  Then go home, list clubs, expand the list, go to v3 club, and then v3 forum. I've seen similar things when switching versions in other lower level pages.  It seems the only path that is really reliable is switching from home page. So apparently the back trail matters?  Not sure, my programming experience is all back end.
I signed up for the v3 ios version, but I used the wrong email. could the moderators PM me of how to switch emails?
WOW. Just downloaded the new app update and it is terrific. I love the lessons feature that has been added as well as the articles and the update to the videos! Kudos to the staff that has been hard at work on this.
1. New topic in group forum - switched back to V2 to create this one 2. How to write a note in group notes 3. Vote Chess (Edit: found, but doesn't work) 4. Live Chess without creating a new challenge (e.g. for watching top game or something) (Edit: Live chess feature disabled O_o) 5. Video lessons, Chess mentor, Daily puzzle, Online coaching, Study plans, Book openings and Game explorer. 6. Statistics 7. My played games! 8. Members page/search. 9. My recent acivity/my tracked activity. 10. Get PGN/FEN in Daily chess 11. Conditional move in Daily chess

I think if V3 (with V3 bug fixes and feature complete) replaced V2 there would be a massive negative response. V3 has the same issues Windows 8 has. We just do not need a mobile website for the PC. IMO V2 is superior to V3 (and its not because V3 is not feature complete). It might be best that V3 could be a mobile site that pops up as an option on a mobile device (is that what V3 is supposed to be?). Its our jobs as testers to give honest feedback (and to NOT share that feedback anywhere but here).   Whats your honest feedback? (We need to hear it!)
So I had the V3 enabled and going through my online (not live) games and delivered checkmate with white in one of them (http://www.chess.com/echess/game?id=100870404 in V2). I saw 2 errors in red in quick succesion on top of the screen and did not snapshot it as I thought these were hickups that would not have major consequences. Unfortunately, when I reloaded the page I saw the game was stuck where it thinks it's white's move but I can't make it for some reason (maybe because the game is over?). Since then I switched back to V2, and the game is stuck in the exact same way. So there really is a second bug here: if for whatever reason chess.com expects a move to be made but this move has already been made and even if the game is over, the user should not be left in this silly stuck situation. It is probably something that should be fixed, at least as a work around to the original bug so that people don't loose on time out when they really should have won. I submitted a bug report separately. Note I don't really mind to loose a game (very occasionaly) on a bug (though many people I suspect will disagree), but I don't want to be kicked out of the quick knock out tournaments because of a time-out that is not my mistake. Thanks for following up with this. I am begining to warm up to the V3 UI. Looks especially good on tablet or on PC in full screen mode (F11).
I've only tested this on my ipad so far (using the safari browser, not the app). I assume it's not compatible yet because next to nothing works. You can't even access your games. I'll try on my laptop tomorrow but I take it that for the time being this is normal?

How do I revert to the old chess.com format?
As testers we have a commitment to keep our ideas and throughts on this forum only. But before long the entire chess.com community will respond to V3 when its rolled out. And the feedback will be swift and honest. Its the way of the internet. Ignoring the bugs what do the alpha testers think of the overall Style?

NOTE: Please do not post feedback or comments here! This is ONLY for developers to post change logs as an FYI. Any other posts will be deleted. Thank you! Hi there, Chessians! We're going to try to keep this thread up to date with our changes. That way, if you have reported a bug and you track this thread, you should see when the bug is fixed. Also, if you are waiting to try out something new, it will be announced here in the evening after it is released to the beta test site. Changes Sep 3-5: New releases — alpha state, so expect rough edges! tournaments — list pages and integration with member homepage clubs blogs Major work: images and thumbnails (proper scaling and resolution) Daily Chess home page fleshed out and member homepage Daily Chess grid improved Improved and fixed: lots of bug fixes from "oops" pages and the like better automated testing improved to avoid regressing on fixed bugs some layout issues (board auto-sizing, membership icon indicators) chess board diagrams fixes (displaying FENs as images) data conflicts with actions taken by opponents on the old site (caching issues) time calculations and display improvements (vacation, rounding, last-action bug) tactics "next tactic" handling and move-after-done error friends-list displays (now selecting actual friends!) Not yet available, but making progress: custom tournament trophies (not quite there!) getting closer to supporting personal themes, including new v3 upgrades many admin functions throughout the site Remember to check back whenever we fix or release something you're interested in!
Does anyone know what is the significance of the '3' in the screen cap below? This comes from the http://www.chess.com/daily page in V3. Feel free to use this thread for other puzzling findings that might not merit a bug report...

Thanks so much for your help testing Chess.com V3! If you want to report a bug or something annoying, please click on the "Send Your Feedback!" button. That will automatically enter it into our bug system.    If you want to just make a recommendation or a suggestion or share an idea, you should do that here in the forums!  But again, PLEASE use the "Send Your Feedback" grey button for bugs or problems.  Thank you! We are making a LOT of progress with your help!
This is just a suggestion, for what it's worth, and maybe you guys already have this in mind. I'm guessing that when custom themes arrive, users will be able to customize their site backgrounds with a chosen image or colors, but not customize their chosen pieceset. I'd like to suggest that members be able to upload one custom pieceset to use on the site boards. If this is a prohibitively difficult technical task, then never mind, but I just thought I'd suggest it.

I would recommend reducing the font size of the news and article headlines and possibly offering a vertical listing of the articles with brief summaries like on the current Chess.com page. The v3 setup on the home page seems a little cluttered and the headline fonts seem "off". AmishHacker
