Obviously the pieces are weaker in this variant (Reminds me a lot of Xiangqi), which results in much slower games. But I am not sure how good the pieces are in relation to each other. I will post what my initial impression is according to the standard chess scale (Queen = 9, pawn = 1), if there are any experienced players reading, I would love your input! Chariot-5 King-3.5 (Based on power) Knight-2.5 Ferz-1.5 Alfil-0.5 Pawn-0.5 One interesting thing to note is that your king is the 2nd strongest piece so you must use it to attack! Pawns are much worse because they cannot promote or move 2 squares on turn 1 Alfils are just as useless only having access to 8 squares Knights are worse because they can't occupy outposts as easily
I was thinking about how antichess isn't really the opposite of standard chess as the objective of standard chess isn't to capture all of your opponents pieces but to checkmate your opponent. I think something that could make for an interesting variant is one, with the opposite objective as standard chess, in which you win by getting checkmated.
https://www.chess.com/variants/custom/game/27051910/98/2 Apparently, it says "draw" but my opponent received the 600 points. Even though a draw should mean points are tied.
people who use knights in atomic are pussys

On the main site there are lessons on how to move the standard chess pieces followed by challenges that involve just practicing moving a specific type of piece. I think it would be beneficial to beginners if there was an analog section of the variants site, in which would have a lesson for each fairy piece followed by practice problems involving moving the piece.

I think it would be interesting to add checkers pieces to variants, as they capture by jumping over enemy pieces instead of by landing on the square of an enemy piece and can capture multiple pieces at a time. I would be curious to see what the value of checkers pieces would be in chess variants when combined with other pieces and pawns.

how tf do you get unbanned from variants?

Only the first king that get captured should be valued 3 points. The second should be valued 4 points, and finally the third 5 points. The reasoning is that the most skilled players "last" longer on the board.
There should be an option that allows you to customize the squares for KOTH, so we are no longer limited to the 4 central squares.

Why does nobody play WoFs now! I keep trying to play but I have no opponent so I can't play!
Chess_Monk1 Apr 29, 2022
There should be a separate rule that does not allow kings to capture.

Why does either player get a loss when your server goes down. At a minimum cancel the match rather than giving someone a loss.
Chess_Monk1 Apr 29, 2022
We should be able to add Crazyhouse as a custom variant rule. Crazyhouse cannot be combined with Atomic.
Green_Sleeves Apr 29, 2022
Well, some variants use Racing Kings solely for the purpose of "no checks allowed." Even if the racing rank is covered in walls. There should be a separate rule that does not allow checks.

In Mini Forest, the royal piece is unclear, because new players might not know that the king is royal, and not just a non-royal king. I think the king should be replaced by a royal ferz, because it has the royal piece symbol, and because it has no change on the movements of the royal piece.

The variant has the starting position below Stone Generals can promote on the 14th rank to any non royal piece that blue has in the above starting positions, and they can move 2 squares on their first move. Other than having a different starting position and the above mentioned rules, the game is the rules are the same as in standard chess. I think the ferzes would be valueless as they can't move and can't be captured, but they likely impact the values of other pieces as they affect both the movement of the king and the grasshoppers. Grasshoppers must be at least as valuable as dababas as they can hop over the ferzes laterally, and camel riders must be at least as valuable as camels as they can move like camels. I suspect that the camel is slightly more valuable that the alibaba but both move in ways the other can't so I'm not sure. The position is very different from standard chess, so I think simply using the values the pieces would have in a position similar to standard chess might not work.

As per the title, there is a problem with the new royal piece indicator. The indicator used to be a halo in 4pc, now it is a courier sign. The sign blocks the number of checks in N-Check, so we don't know how many checks we still have. Fix this by either making it smaller or changing it.

I am currently working on a complete super compendium of all the unorthodox pieces. I will not be done until next week, but it will be better than the "Intro to the Fairy Pieces" on 4pc. This is because the new server has new pieces and new piece designs.
