[Puzzle Road] Objective draw! (P19)
Welcome back to the Puzzle Road!
Coming back from my OTB tournament, I can now continue posting the tactics of the puzzle road after these two days of hard playing! Indeed, the players were rated between 1700 and 2400! There was a FM, who ended 1st of the tournament (!!)
Edit: I got place 7 of 34 players!!
My chess tactics have become much better, and today, in opposite of a winning tactic, we will have a drawing-tactic! Alright, Black has a rook more, but we are not losing this position! How? Everything’s explained in the blog!
19/ Objective draw! (Topic: drawing a lost game)
In this position, Black has a rook more, but blundered with Rook c1 (??), which does permit us to play the repetition of checking moves. We will see here how to do that.
First move: Queen e6 + (!!)
The king has now for possible squares to escape to the queen: f8, g7, h8 and h7. With 1. … / Kf8, Black loses. The idea is to take the black rook with a fork and to protect the e3 square (else, the queen checks our king there…) and the correct moves to play are in this diagram:
After 1. … / Kh7, we check the king with 2. Qf7! and after King h6, we have Queen f4 and come again to the same position. After 2. … / Kh8, we have the case of 1. … / Kh8!
After 1. ... / Kh8, we have Queen f6 and after 2. … / Kh7, we have again the case of 1. … / Kh7 and the case, where the king stands on g8!
After 1. … / Kg7, we have all the old cases with 1. … / Kh7, Kh8 and Kg8 (??), easy.
I hope you understood all the possible moves and all the possibilities of repetition moves.
Have a good day,
Your friend, @Kyu13
