Chess vs Checkers

Some people that don't know how to play chess and don't know about the game mistake it as a cousin of checkers. Well, Today I am going to prove those people wrong!!

 Chess

  • Has 64 squares
  • 16 pieces per side
  • King Can Castle
  • Has a clock usually
  • There are two sides: White and Black
  • Pawn can promote
  • King vs King is a draw
  • There is a 50 move rule where no capturing equals a draw
  • King, Knight, Bishop, Queen, Pawns, Rooks.
  • White moves first

There are a bunch of more rules that checkers doesn't have, but I am sure that all of you know them. So I will skip over to the Checkers section.

Waiting for something fun? Well here is the half-way activity.

Checkers

  • Two sides: White and Black
  • 12 pieces per side
  • There are only circle pieces
  • Black moves first
  • Only the dark squares of the board may be used.
  • A piece can only be crowned Queen
  • A piece can't move backwards unless it is a Queen
  • Can jump diagonally to capture pieces

So, chess is more of a logic game while checkers is just a board game. A Chess game can be up to 6 hours long, believe me, I have had a ton of them, especially at World Championships. Checkers is just for fun like Monopoly for example. It was made because of draughts. Even though there is some kind of strategy in checkers, chess has a lot more.

DO NOT MISTAKE CHESS FOR A BOARD GAME, OR I WILL GET MAD!!

Thanks for watching, I hope I informed you AND entertained you.
