There has been quite a bit of discussion about what should happen when our partner resigns or abandons at the beginning of a game in Teams. How do you think we can best solve this problem?   My suggestion: 1. Remove resign button for first 3 turns of game2. Auto abort games where a player times out during the first three turns3. Players who time out during first three moves of game lose a set amount of rating points4. Players who time out or resign twice in first 10 turns in 1 day are banned for 24 hours5. Players who time out or resign 5 times in the first 10 turns in 1 week are banned Thoughts?
Played a dozen of games in 4 Player Chess Teams today. Most of games are just 2 (!) to 10 moves long. I thought it is a problem of new players (1100 to 1250). But here is an example of a game where blue was 1516 and green 1328. Blue resigned on the 4th move. 1. h2-h3 .. b6-c6 .. g13-g12 .. m8-l82. e2-e3 .. b10-c10 .. Qh14-e11 .. m4-k43. Qg1-i3 .. Na10-c9 .. Qe11xNc9 .. m9-l94. Qi3-i8 .. (I recommend to use this analysis board: http://www.smartbridge6.nine.ch/.4pcp/4pc.html You can copy/paste the moves to the memo-field and click "Load pgn4".) Green just made useless and meaningless moves (except the first one). Blue (1516) was playing like he never seen this opening before (when both red and yellow queens become active on the 2nd or 3rd move). I hope that this game example will help new players to find better opening moves for blue and green.
Hi, I would like if all staff would work to try to make tournaments for 4 player chess!

The rating range thing simply doesnt work. It hasnt been for over a week! I'm being matchged with 1200s all the time in FFA. It is impossible to gain rating in those circumstances. The leaderboard hasnt changed at all for almost a month now! FFa is ruined because of this.

Have lost 2 games today due to not being able to move fast enough due to latency issues caused by the video ads on chess.com. Seriously needs to be fixed to make it static ads instead as it ruins game play!
btw i've wondered what if your partner could always still intervene, even after what is now checkmate. it's kinda not ok that green can get mated on a square that is covered by his partner blue. i think i'm suggesting turning the game into regular chess. black vs white. would drastically reduce the amount of mating combinations.
Seems unfair. (this is not the first time I have played, my rating is just 1200 coincidentally)

Hey 4-player fans, I've played a few games now - I think I enjoy 4-player more than normal chess!! What are the conditions for claiming the win? Clearly you have to be leading with the most points, and I assume its only in cases where there are two players left, but what, if any, are the other factors? ie. Do you have to be leading by a certain points count? Do you have to have passed a certain points count? Thanks in advance. There doesn't seem to be anything about it in the rules.
As for me, it is a sin not to play one of the following moves:Queen's pawn to x3 or x4 King's knight's pawn to x3 Every other move seems to throw away the advantage of the very first move. What do you think?
I noticed that a player on the top 5 bullet or blitz leaderboard on the chess.com main page will get removed if they don’t play any games over a 1 or 2 week period. They’ll still appear on the global leaderboard, but on the main page, only players who have played a game over the past week or two will be shown. Why not do the same for the 4 player leaderboard? The FFA top 15 has remained stagnant for quite a while now, and even in teams, some of the players who got on the leaderboard aren’t playing anymore just to stay on it.
We were having a real fun game except for one grouch. How is it one player can decide to disable chat for everyone?
New rating range selector for partners is awesome Kudos development team!
The Claim Win button has attracted some controversy recently for a couple of reasons. It can lead to situations where the winning player determines 2nd and 3rd by deciding whether to play on or 'resign' It is perceived (wrongly in my opinion) as unfair because it isn't available in normal chess Currently, Claim Win: Provides 20 points to other player Is optional I propose that Claim Win becomes: Automatic (on the winning player's turn) Provides variable points to other player based on material disparities Points are determined like this: Losing player's points of material on the board minus winning player's material on the board For obvious reasons, the points provided could not be less than 0 or more than 20. Examples Player A: 60 points (off board), 40 (on board) Player B: 12 points (off), eliminated Player C: 30 points (off), eliminated Player D: 39 points (off), 55 (on) It is Player A's turn. They automatically claim their win. Player D gets 15 points (55 - 40) and comes 2nd. Note: For auto-claim-win to be enabled, the other two players must be fully eliminated - none of their kings can be available for capture.

One defect of the game is the matchmaking. Earlier I a 1750 player at moment was paired against Three 1200 players. This would not have bothered me except that the other players all ganged up, and you cant really blame them. Why should they bash each other up and leave me to clean up? The solution would be to hide the rating during play. There is no real need to know the ratings of the other players during the game and it just leads to problems. Maybe this would be a solution

I hide inside blue's fort. Blue's too busy fighting off green to attack me.

Is there a roadmap of 4 Player Chess development? Some list of what is going to be added, fixed, changed in future. We write many suggestions on this forum (and sometimes in the Notes). Would be good to see the list of accepted suggestions. Also there are lots of bugs currently. Would be good to see which of them are considered as important and are going to be fixed soon. I understand that this list may contain some secret ideas (a surprise from the chess.com developers), those ideas can be removed from the public roadmap list. Thank you in advance.
I'd love to see the best 4 player chess players play in an actual tournament both in ffa and team player. Not only would alot of players be thrilled for such an event, I think it would also be a great learning experience. Right know there are lots of different approaches - for example what is a solid structure for your king to be placed in. We could learn what approaches the best players use and improve on our understanding. There doesn't need to be any money involved. It would be so awesome to see some top regular chess players (I've seen a few GM's play but imagine seeing some streamers like having a Chessbrah team in team mode) or some of the 2k level players like wracku or recaz battle it out.
