Today I was looking at my own WoF, "Too Much to Chew," and saw an error. The blue general is one step ahead of where it should be (c7 instead of b6). I thought of posting this message in the Bug Thread instead, but was not sure that it was exactly a bug. I think this is more of an error with creating the tournaments than involving the code, so I posted it here.

Another idea for a chess variation..i think its simple and kind of fun. PARASITE QUEEN or PIGGY BACK QUEEN Queen moves like a king.. Queen has the ability to mount/dismount friendly and enemy pieces(mount and dismount are considered a turn) FRIENDLY PIECES the piece now MOVES (together with queen) using its own moves OR the queen moves (1 square all directions) this new piece can CAPTURE using only the mounted piece moves if the piece is captured queen goes down with it queen CAN CAPTURE enemy pieces during dismount ENEMY PIECES queen attaching herself to an enemy piece now controls this piece lets say your BLACK queen hijacked a WHITE rook it CANNOT CAPTURE its fellow white pieces and CANNOT BE CAPTURED by its fellow white pieces....basically you hijack an enemy piece and move it to your part of the board to bring it to a more risky position..off course during dismount it can escape... you CAN use it to capture your own pieces and you can CAPTURE it with your own black pieces but queen, if not dismounted, goes down with it it moves ONLY with the moves of the piece hijacked BOTH KINGS of the game CANNOT get hijacked queen exists in PAWN PROMOTION ....i believe i covered everything..have fun and if i missed something plz comment........................also death to castling

I have a custom variant that needs some additional coding if it were to make it on to the site. I’ve played this with my students over the years, tweaking the rules in several different ways, and it’s been a lot of fun. It begins with an empty board like SetupChess and players take turns placing the pieces as usual, but pieces may be placed anywhere on the board. The key difference, and where some coding is needed, is that a player may only begin moving and capturing once their own king lands on the board. The remaining pieces are stored in the bank and can be later dropped into the game. Dropping your king too early often leads to getting drop-mated. Dropping too late leaves you with less flexibility in future attacks/defenses. Dropping too late after your opponent mobilizes is nearly always a fatal mistake as it means you can’t recapture. Play continues with standard rules until checkmate or draw. Variations for Over the Board Sets:1) All Pieces + 3 Pawns. Pawns are restricted to the ranks 2&3. Pawns promote normally.2) All Pieces + 2 Quadripawns (pawns that move 1 space horizontal & vertical, capture 1 space diagonally in all directions) No promotion. I’ve come to prefer using the Quadripawns as you can set up your base in any part of the board and still direct your attack in any direction. For the same reason, I think a good variation on the site (without having to code new pieces) would be: 3) 39 Starting Points available KQRBN (no pawns) I’d also enjoy seeing other additions that the site would allow for like adding other pieces, changing the board dimensions, bricked squares, etc. Let me know any thoughts. And how do I propose this idea for additional coding?

Here are the current rules of my invented chess variant:Two players must take turns placing pawns on the board. The pawns conquer a 2x2 square however way the player wishes. However, when you place it, it can't be next to an enemy pawn but it can be next to a friendly pawn, where it's obligatory to fuse into 1 whole bigger island, which takes multiple hits to kill. A fusion must be no more than 3 pawns big.During the game, islands can move 1 square in any direction except diagonally. Just like the start, if you go together with another pawn and there will be less than 4 fusions, you can fuse them together. If you decide to challenge another island, enter its territory and start a battle. Depending on the number of pawns on an island, you will get that many dices. However, if it's a minority, for example 2 pawns V 1 pawn, the 1 pawn will get a D8 dice instead of D6. After both players roll their dice, whoever got the bigger number gets to take one pawn off of their island. If it's a tie, then both islands die.To win the game, you must conquer all islands and still have islands left.Do you have any ideas on how I can improve the variant? What should I add? rules: 2 kings. win by checkmating both of them. castling works both ways, but in order for both to castle it must be short castle. pawns can promote to king, making another king the opposing side has to checkmate. check rule does not apply when there are more than one king on the board (opposing side can capture.)called dual chess but i think thats a bad name lol

These fix the balance issues of the Chancellor and Archbishop in normal Seirawan chess.

Every time i make a new custom position and i set the promotion rank its always on the wrong rank. Ex: set rank to 10, actual promotion 8. please fix this
