The Chess.com Troll of the Month contest was created on Oct. 15, 2013, with the purpose of recognizing the great contributions that trolls have made - and continue to make - to the chess.com forums. It is the trolls among us that make the otherwise tedious and boring forums readable and often enjoyable, and despite frequent discrimination and abuse from some members of the chess.com community, they continue to dedicate themselves to improving the forum experience of chess.com members. Our respect and gratitude to them is long overdue, and hopefully this contest will make members of chess.com start to realize just how important trolls are to this community.

With that said, these are the rules for the contest:

1. From the 15th of every month to the last day of that month, all members of chess.com will be able to nominate trolls that they believe have made exceptionally good threads or comments during that month.

2. When nominating a particular member, one must provide a link to the thread(s) or comment(s) that the member is being nominated for. Said thread(s) or comment(s) must be from the month during which the contest is taking place. Each nominee may be nominated for more than one comment or thread.

3. After nominations have ended, the names of all nominated trolls, along with the threads/comments that they have been nominated for will appear on a final ballot. The ballot will be released, and voting opened on the first day of the following month, and will continue for a week. During that period, all chess.com members may cast votes for the candidates on the ballot, with each user having one vote.

4. If in a certain month there are a particularly large number of nominations received, then each member will have to receive at least 2 nominations in order to appear on the ballot. Deciding when to implement this policy will be up to the discretion of the organizers of the contest; however, if they do decide to implement this policy, they must notify the public at least 1 week prior to the closing of nominations.

5. At the end of the 1 week voting period, the nominee that receives the most votes is the winner, and will me officially named Chess.com Forum Troll of that month. If there is a tie between the leading 2 or more nominees, then another one week voting session will be opened, in which said nominees will be on the ballot, and all chess.com members will be able to vote, with each person having one vote, just like the pervious voting session. If there is still a tie after this voting session, then the winner will be chosen by the organizers of the tournament.

Above are all of the rules for the contest. Nominations for the October 2013 Chess.com Forum troll of the month have now opened. Members of chess.com who wish to nominate trolls may do so in this thread. Nominations will close on Oct. 31. Please note that this thread is solely for nominations - voting will not open until Nov. 1.

ajttja

well, this guy got his acount closed and i don't remeber his name but he deserves to win, he made lots of forums with "fake passports, fake ID's and fake drivers liscenses"

Lady-Jane

eh, I'd say his trolling didn't exactly attract too much attention.

InDetention

The people who deserve to win are: Failed-cheater;sucsessful-cheater:;and I_STILL_LUV_CHEATING';and alas, they are the same person.(their acconts are closed. oh and also GM_ryzan. he  created like 5 acoonts and played over 500 games with his fake accounts and made a fromn that said:Iam 1 of the best players on this site,I am over 2000.

macer75

Thanks for all the nominations! Unfortunately, due to the practicalities of having to actually award someone the title of Troll of the Month, banned accounts will not be able to participate in the comptition.

InDetention

ah hah! I KNOw someone good! Macer75

macer75

Ok... just to clarify: valid nominations must include the name of the nominee and a link the the thread(s) and/or comment(s) that that person is being nominated for. The thread(s) and/or comment(s) must be from this month.

So could you provide a link to this member's threads or comments that you think make him deserving of a nomination?

DefinitelyNotGM

I am nominating Ultimate-Fighter for posts #70, #72, #78, #79, #80, #84, #94 and #96 on Losing Really Sucks. I can't nominate the thread because it isn't from this month

Nomination accepted. (I will reply this to all valid nominations for the sake of clarity.)

Ziryab

Inasmuch as macer75 has been nominated, but not properly so, I'd like to second the original nomination with an appropriate link: here.

Nomination accepted. (I knew somebody would do that sooner or later lol)

macer75

For a list of all nominees so far, please scroll to the top of the page. Please note that if a member that you want to nominate is already on the list, but the thread/comment that you want to nominate him for are not, you can still nominate that member for the thread/comment that you wish to nominate him for.

ajttja

I nominate Sebleb for advertising his "coaching"  http://www.chess.com/forum/view/community/i-am-available-for-coaching-amateurs---free

ajttja

I nominate DrCheckevertim for trying to enter a new title  CatGrandMaster (CGM) http://www.chess.com/forum/view/general/i-propose-a-new-chess-title-cgm

macer75

Unfortunately, both threads are too old to enter this contest. However, there will be a Chess.com Forum Troll of the Year contest at the end of the year, and when the nominations begin you can nominate those 2 members for the threads that you mentioned.
