Hello chess fans, let me be honest, I am not a master or a great chess player in general but these tips have helped me improve my rating and get my rating above that 1000 rating mark on chess.com. I hope this is helpful.

1. Get comfortable with certain openings.

I currently play three openings that I know the lines for very well. Choose openings that you like to play and that aren't like super crazy gambits. I you get comfortable playing the same group of openings you will get comfortable with those openings and have a better understanding for which moves are strongest in certain positions.

2. Train your tactics

The more you do things like puzzles the fast you will see tactics that can help you win the games. Training tactics will help you notice weakness in your opponent's positions lime a king and queen on the same daigonal or different types of pins, forks or skewers.

3.Determine your strengths and weaknesses.

This is key in anything that you wish to improve on and especially in chess. It is not only important to find the  strengths and weakness in positions but in your own game. For example finding a time control that you thrive in and that you are the best in. Some players are better faster and some are better with little time.

4. Analyze your games

If you analyze your games you can find tons of things. Things like missed tactics. misplayed opening preparations and finding your weakness in your game. Analyzing your games will help you improve on all of the above and also will make you a stronger and smarter chess player.

5.Study other's games

Whether its your friend or a grandmaster you can always learn something. There are lots of openings that you will face a lot like the Ruy Lopez, the Sicilian , and the London.Watching others games will help you beat these openings if played against you or even show you how the play those openings for your self.
