Hello chess fan, we are into the 7th day of the Candidates tournament and even though the players have tons of time, its clear to see that some players use more clock than others. Today we will look at each players best time control. (Blitz ,Rapid, Bullet, and Classical.)This is based off of not only their rating but achievements they have achieved in that time control.

Fabiano Caruana: Classical.

Caruana is known as a master calculator and when he has lots of time like in classical games he is one of the best at thinking out lines. Caruana won the previous Candidates Tournament which is in a classical format. Caruana is ranked second in the world in classical and he has his highest rating in classical games.

Ding Liren: Rapid

Liren, who is the world number 3 in both rapid and in classical best time control is rapid. In rapid his rating is 2836, while in classical his rating is 2805. The best Chinese player, is strong in all time controls and he is in the running to maybe win the Candidates.

Alexander Grischuk: Blitz

While technically Grischuk has his highest rating in rapid, he is by far more successful in blitz. Grischuk has won the World Blitz Championship multiple times and he is also dominate in the Pro Chess League which is in the blitz format as well.

Ian Nepomniachtchi: Blitz

Nepo's rating in blitz is one points higher than his in rapid but he is a very strong blitz player. He also is the board one for the PCL(Pro Chess League) team the Russian Wizards. He also plays very fast even in classical, like what we have seen so far in the Candidates Tournament.

Maxime Vachier-Lagrave: Rapid

MVl, who is the top French player, is probably best in rapid. MVL is also ranked second in rapid because of his very high rapid rating. His rapid rating is 38 points higher than his blitz rating so the world umber 2 in rapid obviously plays very well in rapid time formats.

Anish Giri: Classical

Giri is a very good thinker and like Caruana can calculate very well.. He is very good at classical and usually in classical bring lots of interesting ideas that he uses to surprise his opponents. Giri though strong in all time controls, has been to the Candidates tournament before and has played very well throughout is whole career.

Wang Hao: Classical:

Wang Hao is a very strong classical player he won the Isle of Man Tournament last year which is classical.  Hao has a worse rating in blitz and rapid and usually plays better when he has more time to think which is in classical.

Kirill Alekseenko: Classical:

Alekseenko is 39th ranked in the world in classical. Though he is the only player with a rating below 2700 (2698) he is still at his best in classical games. He is 37 points better in classical than in rapid. He is also not that strong in blitz and his blitz rating is below 2600.
