My good games at this week #58
Hello, my dear chess friends!
This week, a surprising lack of major obligations left me with a decent chunk of time for chess.
And I'm glad I played what was, arguably, one of my best games this week!
The second game? Well, it’s not exactly going to win any "Game of the Century" awards, but it nicely illustrates the core ideas from some of my earlier blog posts.
I'm always glad to hear your feedback!
Here is my latest Blitz game (3/0 min) against the formidable International Master Jasper Broekmeulen (FIDE 2377) from the Netherlands.
My titled opponent, clearly feeling extra confident (or perhaps just needing a quick adrenaline fix), activated the Berserk mode! If you watch the video, you’ll see that clock difference right from the start. That's essentially his way of saying, "I'm good enough to beat you with half the time."
(Spoiler alert: I like those odds!)
And in our next featured game, we look at the classic sacrifice on h-7 . This move is often dismissed by many players as a simple, overused trick — the fast-food equivalent of a chess tactic.
However, in this particular game, Black finds a truly fascinating and resilient way to rescue their position and defend against the onslaught. It proves that even the simplest-looking trick can backfire one day.
